That’s what they said about Thielen.

I say it’s because his quarterback is Jimmy freaking Garoppolo

Jimmy G is on his yearly Injured Reserve segment of the season.  They're playing some jabronie rookie or something. Adams would EAT here.  Him and Thelien would be a very good duo for Bryce to develop with.  That being said, its not happening lol...

Thielen is on the decline. He's still an effective receiver but he's clearly not the threat that he used to be

Thielen is the best slot receiver in the game. He's a different kind of threat--he won't be killing you on the outside--but he's still a legit threat.

Absolutely. But he's also still absolutely on the physical decline.

That's why he's having to do his damage largely out of the slot against nickels, safeties, and LBs instead of on the outside against starting CBs like he used to in his prime.

Decline or not, Adams is a certifiable #1. And could be for 2 to 3 more years. I have absolutely no objection for giving Bryce a genuine receiving threat. Then we can try to find or develop a new WR 1. But this whole, "Bryce has no weapons, and he's not producing, oh well, lol," plan doesn't seem sustainable.

Even with his "diminished role" he's on pace for over 1300 yards and 9 TDs and ya'll are acting like that couldn't help us.

Who has said he can't help us now?

But honestly, this season is a lost cause. I'm way more focused on getting guys who can help us in the future. Not sure if a 30 year old WR fits into that picture.

For one thing he's already 30. For another I have no idea why he would even consider or want to play here.

This.  He is going to want to play for a contender at this point in his career.  He isn't one to develop long term chemistry with Young and before long will be on the decline.

Assume burns is gone after this season if we don’t trade him. walks we get a third.

we trade him for Adams we get 3 years (conservative) of good production for a qbs most important developmental years.

we trade burns for a pick, we get to trust fitterer or Nicole tepper or whomever of finding a young rookie who MIGHT be what Adams is.

I dunno, it makes sense to me.

i think being worried about age with certain players is overblown. If the panthers had pulled the trigger on joe thomas for a first in 2015 they probably would have won the Super Bowl and no one would care he retired in 2017.

But at what cost?  1st rounder which we don't have and a chunk of our salary cap in a roster full of holes.  I'm not saying he wouldn't help us, but our resources are better spent on other resources.

    • The panthers are such a trash organization at this point that all the huddle can do is argue about which panthers team is historically the worst…good times.
    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
