Was my favorite WR coming out of the draft

My biggest concern with him was durability. He didn't miss a lot of games at UNC but it felt like he was constantly banged up and limited by lingering injuries, especially back related. It wouldn't surprise me if he slipped a bit in the draft because of it.

I didn't really have any concerns with him on the field other than acknowledging that he was likely a slot only guy at the NFL level.

Earlier on this season it seemed like a lot of folks were blaming Howell for holding onto the ball too long causing a lot of sacks. Sure, that happened occasionally but I honestly think most of the folks blaming the majority of the sack issues on Howell just weren't watching the games or just don't understand football. Now it seems like most folks are starting to realize that the Washington OL is simply historically terrible.

To put that into perspective, Tua has the fastest average time to throw in the NFL at 2.38 seconds.

Meanwhile, Bieniemy is starting to go full Mike Shula doing nothing to help his terribly struggling OL. They made one of the weakest pass rushers in football look like the '85 Bears yesterday. The Giants had already matched their season sack total by halftime. And virtually all of them were just straight up jailbreaks.

Downs with 125 yards yesterday

Mingo has 133 all season

Member when Fitt was talking up a WR pre-draft that he was so infatuated with because he evaluated so damn well? Just makes you realize how similar he is to Hurney 2.0 after round 1 (he’s not as good there either). Guys like Little and Grier compare to Corral, DJ Johnson and Mingo. Must have prospects who weren’t nearly as good as our infatuation.

SMH, it hurts to think about how much more talented our team would be if our GM was a committee of Huddle members who follow the draft.

The Hurney 2.0 (and Mayhew) effect happening again. We went from Kalil x2, Turner, Norwell, Williams and Moton as our starting/top 6 guys to Erving, Elflein, Jordan, Daley, Little and Moton.

This article from August about the Washington OL is comical: https://www.si.com/nfl/commanders/news/washington-commanders-martin-mayhew-ol-sam-howell-charles-leno-saahdiq-charles-sam-cosmi-nick-gates-andrew-wylie#:~:text=The Washington Commanders are hoping, group has what it takes.

Watching parts of that game really made me feel like the GM situations here and there are remarkably close in their ineptness.

The scary part is they're getting worse every week.

True and we appear to be getting better. We were only down 21-14 at half to Miami before they beat us 42-21. That’s big progress from being down 28-10 at half to Detroit before losing 42-24. Also, after those two teams got spanked by Baltimore and Philly this weekend, it made me feel like we exposed the blueprints for how to beat the Lions and Dolphins.

Remember, this the guy a lot of people here wanted as the HC.  Although not much further along than us in personnel, Washington as a team has better pieces than we do.

A couple weeks ago I thought Bieniemy was adapting to having a porous OL but he went full Shula yesterday. Then again, when the OL is THAT bad I don't know what you can do. It wasn't like they had a weak link. The whole unit was just getting absolutely blown up at the snap.

Ron gonna Ron. This should all sound very familiar to Panthers fans.

Very familiar. I can only imagine how short Cam’s career would have been if Gettleman wasn’t into hog mollies. I know he made a lot of mistakes the Commanders OL dissolution under Rivera and Rivera/Hurney is extremely similar to Rivera/Hurney 2.0 after DG was gone. At least DG was drafting OL and signing FAs to add guys. Hurney and Rivera let OL leave and cobbled together crap with little to no draft picks (how many 1st round DL do they have?) and this is now the second place where their OL went from solid before them to crap in a matter of 3 years.

    • Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.
    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
