Why Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers haven't improved with Boomer Esiason

Because your summary fails to mention that Bryce is causing problems for our receivers, which IMO is a glaring omission. The hosts phrased the question on Bryce's overthrows and underthrows in such a way as to encourage Boomer to place the blame on the alleged poor route running by our receivers, but Boomer declined to do so and instead pointed out that Bryce's indecisiveness is the cause of the poor route running.

Another sign that the hosts were clueless and trying to push a narrative is that they characterized Bryce as "that accurate from Alabama". I'm sorry to break it to you, but Bryce has never been accurate on long throw at Alabama. During his best statistical year at Alabama, Bryce completed only 36.1% of passes 20 yards or longer. That is freaking atrocious. For comparison, Tua's completion rate at Alabama on passes 20 yards or longer was 57.1%, and Mac Jones' was 58%.

20-yard throws Comp. Att. % Yards Y/A Y/C Drop
2021: Young 10 33 36.1% 416 12.6 41.6 9%
2020: Jones 29 50 58% 1,279 25.6 44.1 8%
2019: Tua 17 35 48.6% 659 18.8 38.8 3%
2018: Tua 24 42 57.1% 944 22.5 39.3 2%

Isn’t it amazing that Dalton completed passes against Seattle

Can't help but wonder if that is part of the reason that Young isn't on the bench.  If Dalton comes in and the offense starts clicking, it makes Bryce seem even worse.

One reason why Frank is gone. Pretty sure he was one of the coaches pushing to let Young sit. Guessing our lovable owner was against that.

That’s exactly why

it’s not about the fans.
its not about winning.
It's not about best players play
It's not about a decent product on the fielD

It's not about the other players and their incentives in their contracts

It’s about playing Tepper’s’ dinner partner and ‘point guard’.

I have news for Tepper, no one is going to pay for that

You left out the best part.

Starting around 10:33 mark, Boomer said that Bryce isn't processing things quickly enough, which leads to indecision, which in turn leads to receivers not running routes properly. Elite QBs such as Brady and Mahomes are quick and decisive with their throws, which motivates their receivers to always be alert and ready because the ball could arrive at any moment. Bryce's slow processing, poor ability to read defenses, and indecision lead to problems throughout the offense, from receivers not running routes properly to holding penalties to burned timeouts to false starts and so on and on.

So the blame shouldn't be all placed on the receivers because Bryce is also responsible for their underperformance.

Yeah you can see the indecision every time he drops back to throw

Something that can help, happens to lots of players and we hear them say when they do improve is a big reason is the game slowed down for them.

I am not saying that is going to happen but Bryce is going to be the QB here next season no matter what and possibly a third (probably not if horrendous next yr).  So that can be a factor which will help and possibly a lot. We will see.

Regarding the Hurricanes and the Panthers under new ownership, I think there’s a very valuable lesson to learn that appears to be eluding Tepper. When the Hurricanes were bought the 1st thing that happened was that they cleaned house, completely new F/O and coaching staff. We didn’t do that (obviously coming off an 11-5 season it’s hard to justify cleaning house) and we are still paying for that. The old regime that remained was resistant to everything Tepper did and made it difficult for the new guys to come in and do their job. That is naturally what happens when you try to change something without uprooting it. And it will continue to happen, until Tepper fires everybody and tells the new GM that nobody on the team is safe and that they need a culture change. Moton and Shaq are the only two players (except our LS) who have had winning seasons with the Panthers and they were 2nd and 3rd year guys. We need to get rid of any 2nd contract career Panthers who aren’t superstars because players should not get rewarded for mediocrity and we need our leaders to be guys who know what it takes to win individual games, but also know how to put themselves in the best position to play well week in and week out.

That's why I haven't given up on Mingo. He deserves some blame, but, just like Bryce, he is a rookie. They don't seem to be on the same page a lot of times. That is likely a sum of the clusterfug that is our coaching.

Just think: Chark looks like a shitty receiver also, but he didn't in Jacksonville or Detroit. Bryce and the receivers are obviously out of sync. The WCO is based on timing and preciseness of depth. We haven't seen either this season. It's been an awful watch.

    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
    • this one is gold:     Bryce has a cult inside the Panthers fanbase that has truly developed some NPC hivemind. I'll never understand how he's captured the true essence of the casual fan like that.
    • "everybody has to earn it, heading in the right direction, feel great about him, get it done at the right time"     Mother fuger
