So panthers suffer because of Richardon?

So if Richardson wants the other 31 owners to spend more responsibly to get employee costs under control, he can’t be the one blowing the budget on one luxury item.

That means he’ll have to swallow hard, and hold the door for Peppers to walk away

If that hurts his team in the short term — and it certainly does — it’s a cost he’s willing to absorb.

Because in Richardson’s mind, keeping the NFL competitive is more important than keeping the Panthers that way.

This is actually refreshing to hear to me. I hate all the selfish owners that are in the NFL like Jerry Jones that will spend millions and millions to make sure they have the most talent. It helps there pocket book to keep this league as competitive as possible because that will increase our sports popularity.

Regardless of whether or not Mr. Richardson is trying to set an example, it's hard to justify spending that kind of money on a 30 year old DE.

I would like to see Peppers stay, but if the only way to do that is to pay him 21 million for one season only to watch him walk away next season, then I can understand the decision to move on now.

Yeah..But whats gets me is that this could have been avoided if we would have traded peppers last year.

For this very reason, I believe that we will not only let Peppers walk but we will also not go after any expensive free agents. We may very well have the lowest payroll in the NFL next season. Not a bad business move if people still come to the games and buy the merchandise. The Organization could stand to make alot of profit in an uncapped year with no salary floor either. It is a business after all and we all know that Jerry is all about the league over the team. Hence the NFL logo still at mid-field.

How much money does the average NFL owner make per year? I have heard 20-50 million, which sounds like a lot, but it is total BS that an owner, who takes the financial risks of investing and continuing to operate a team, could make the same as a fine young male DE that plays about half the time. The players salaries (particularly those on the high end) are out of whack.

Glad to know his owner buddies and NFL buddies are more important to him than the PSL owners and diehard fans who buy his overpriced beers.

Winning a fuging superbowl should be priority #1 here and it's becoming obvious to me it isn't.

Can it be any more clearer where our owner's loyalty lies? I mean the big ass NFL logo midfield should say it enough, but damn man. How is this an example of a "great" owner? :frown2:

    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
