Jaguars need to get rid of Lawrence and get themselves a game manager.

You're trolling but honestly Lawrence is a significant disappointment based on his draft status and hype as a prospect. I never bought his Luck level hype but I thought he'd be one of those top 10 but not quite truly elite MVP caliber QBs and he's not even that. He's just too loose with the football and his accuracy is extremely spotty.

Not entirely. Newton wasn't a super cerebral QB. Neither was Delhomme. They weren't Brady / Manning type quarterbacks.

Newton was just a ridiculous combo of size and speed while Jake was a balls out gunslinger. Both had Brett Favreish level accuracy.

It's possible to win in different ways.

Cam was more cerebral than people give him credit for. He usually had ideas of what the defense was doing and where he was going. He never got his footwork right so yeah his accuracy suffered, but he was also in an offense that featured longer passes that have lower accuracy on average in that Air Coryell offense that thrived on a running game and deep passes. I still remember the play where he mocked Clay Matthew’s for trying to identify our play and immediately threw a TD after telling him to “watch this.”

Lawrence is pretty “streaky” but when he is on he is great. Still young and went into a bottom tier roster so he might become more consistent in time.

He has all the talent in the world and made a nice improvement from his rookie year to his second year but it honestly seems like he's regressed this year. I'm just starting to doubt he's ever going to put together the consistency to be great.

I watched the 4th quarter, he looked like dog poo

People poo on Lawrence but he's been better at winning then a guy like Justin Herbert.

I still keep going back to one of the big reasons why I wasn't sold on Herbert as a draft prospect. Back at Oregon they'd take the ball out of his hands in clutch situations. They were a pure running offense when it mattered. They didn't trust him with the ball which I found very odd.

Crazy talent, but he doesn't seem to know how to win when it counts.

Maybe it's a HC thing, but he has talent around him. He needs to start winning.

I was making a tongue in cheek comment regarding all the game manager comments being thrown around the last few weeks.

Personally, I think the game manager thing is overused.  There are only a handful of truly elite quarterbacks in the NFL.  The rest of them need varying degrees of talent around them.  Lamar Jackson has a lot of talent, and might win it all this year, but he has needed more talent around him for a while.

Trevor Lawrence is a decent qb.  I foresee a Matt Ryan type of career for him.  Might win a SB, might not.  I did think the tank for Trevor, he is a generational talent comments rolling around in his final year at Clemson were silly.  There are so few of those types of players, that the odds of any one player being at that level are fairly slim.  In my 40 plus years of watching the NFL, there were only a few that make it to that level.  Brady, Montana, Marino, Peyton Manning, Brees, and now Mahomes. And probably a few others I am forgetting.

In fairness to Lawrence, do keep in mind he is currently playing with a high ankle sprain.

But, agreed on the general statement of his hype being a bit much.

Reminds me of Luck. All the hype about being a generational talent with pretty mixed career results. Although injuries will ultimately get most of the blame for that.

    • This while he didn't single handily LOSE the game on any one play.....    He was a first overall pick, one we paid a fortune for..... the bar for him is a 10 foot dunk not a 5"8 children's rim.   32 for 49 for 287 with 1 td and 1 int in two games vs the worst team in the conference, two critically important games that we would be 9-5 and competing for the #2 if he had led us to victory....   Ive given him props for the TD to tet.... it was the best pass ive ever seen him make.....   But putting up these kind of numbers isn't up to par. Defenses stack the box and dare him to throw....  and he still puts up medicore at best numbers.    To win with Bryce young the entire rest of the team has to be absolutely perfect to make up for his deficiencies.... so while he didn't "lose" this game for us..... HE DEFFINATLY DIDNT GO WIN IT FOR US. (Which is the REALISTIC EXPECTATION)
    • His O is just built on taking repeated shots and that’s not BY’s game.  It was always a round peg and square hole…. But I also agree with your post.  I hate OC HCs.  Especially green ones.   I never liked anything about the setup
    • I get that. He's also trying to do HC and OC this year which I think is just too much for him. I think it's hard to call plays from the sidelines. That view from up top helps them see what a defense is doing better. A few HCs can do it because they have the QBs and experience to pull it off. DC has neither. I think DC may have spread himself too thin and Bryce isn't the QB to be able to pull of his end of it either. How much they compliment each other in creating this offensive bleh, yet to be determined. Doesn't really matter because it's still awful.
