Lions to show interest in DeAngelo Williams?

Lions beat writer Tom Kowalski expects the team to show interest in DeAngelo Williams this offseason.

Kowalski suggests offering the team's second-round pick (No. 34) overall. Williams, though, is a top-ten talent at the running back position and integral to Carolina's run-heavy offense. The Panthers might take such an offer more seriously if Jonathan Stewart wasn't recovering from Achilles' surgery.

Second round pick for a pro bowler. Keep dreaming. Make it a top 20 pick and it becomes a serious offer.

Can't trade your big playmaker. Dumb, dumb, dumb. For a first, maybe, but you've got a guy who can score 15 touchdowns for you. Why trade that?

Panthers will not and should not trade DWill or JStew. The Panthers could not gain anyone of enough value....not even close, compared to what they would be losing.

With Matt Moore as the QB...Panthers only need to fill in a few pieces...which they should be able to do with a decent draft and a couple of free agent pickups.

I'd consider this if it was a first, but they're not trading their second overall pick.
