From ESPN Insider:

Carr could start for ...

Given the offensive line he played behind for the Houston Texans, it's hard not to feel for David Carr, the former No. 1 overall pick. Carr's career never really took off, and he's bounced around a bit since then, most recently as Eli Manning's backup with the Giants.

Carr is set to become a free agent again, and NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas thinks he could be in the mix for a particular team that lacks a true answer in the starting spot at QB:

"The Panthers are making it sound like they're content to let [Jake] Delhomme and [Matt] Moore compete for the starting job. I'm not buying that. I think they'll add a free agent with some NFL playing experience. There's way too much at stake for Fox and Hurney in 2010. I think they have to at least get one more quarterback to compete with Moore and Delhomme, and I'm not even 100 percent convinced Delhomme will be on the roster when all is said and done. Speaking of Fox, Hurney and history with quarterbacks, last time I checked, David Carr was scheduled to be a free agent."

    • It's not about opening the checkbook. It's that veteran pro bowl QBs aren't available. Their teams aren't parting ways with them.
    • I mean to watch that game yesterday and to come to that conclusion is either trolling or velcro shoe level insanity
    • Oh, I agree. I've said I'm all for bringing in someone like Howell or Jameis. IMO, when you don't have a QB you have to pursue all potential avenues. Look at the draft, look at free agency, look at the trade market. Sometimes you luck into an answer where you don't expect it. We didn't truly expect Jake to be the answer. I don't think the Lions expected Goff to be their answer when they got him included in the Stafford trade, they probably just wanted him as a bridge QB. Just look for ways to improve your roster. It doesn't seem like we do that. We think we have boxes checked and just don't even look to potentially improve. Oh, we have Andy Dalton we're good at backup QB.
