Did anybody hear the interview with Matt Moore on Mac Attack this morning?

Don't mistake a laid back exterior for a lack of competitiveness.

There are plenty of guys who are just as competitive as anyone else without being outwardly emotional. Jerry Rice was a prime example (his quarterback too).[/QUOTE]

let john fox know this.

I love me some Matt Moore. Been high on him since we picked him up as a Free Agent off the waiver wire. A very good move by Marty Hurney might I add.

Im confident that Matt Moore will beat out Jake for the starting job this offseason. I think thats the way it needs to be too, we dont have to name Matt Moore the starter. Matt Moore will outplay Delhomme this offseason and will become the starting QB for this team.

This.

bahahaha...you guys kill me. Moore will lose through competition to Jake because Jake is going to bust his nuts in camp to look better in camp.

Jake is our QB...the front office is 'leaning' towards Matt, are you kidding? To me its taking WAY too much convincing to get Moore out there...it should be a simple f**king no brainer...

In the end Matt just simply can't compete with Jake and his massive contract, the tenders we get this year only makes it worse (for him to start, not stay). I think the FOs problem now is to figure out what's more idiotic paying a back up qb 20 mil guaranteed for 5 years or refusing to start Moore? (Its a trick question).

I have a feeling you are correct in that Jake will end up starting week one. I think the only thing that prevents that is him imploding in TC and Preseason. That being said, next season will be different in that he WILL be on a short leash. On qtr/half like the brutality we saw last season and he will be pulled.

Sorry guys but THIS is all you can really hope for.

Imagine, he throws a INT in the first game, do you yank him?

We will see...

Thanks for the short transcript, X-Clown. I like what I'm hearing & I know for sure we will keep him with what Hurney said about him before our season was over. And the nickname Mac mention is lame. That is almost a ripoff of Matt Ryan's "Matty Ice". How about "Moore Beaver"?

I did not know he was married

Yep. I remeber reading his mention he is married when someone talk to him about the Simpson/Romo situation 2 yrs. ago. Quite funny.

He is the next Tom Brady.

Let not get ahead of ourself right now, shall we? :P :p

While I agree that he will outplay Jake this offseason. I am not sold on the fact that John Fox will play Moore over Jake.

I think Fox is bitter over not having a deal in place. Unless Jake just falls flat on his face in preseason and shows he is finished. Fox will start Jake over Moore.

Without a deal. All Fox has to do win enough to attract another team to coach for. He could go 8-8 or 7-9 and some team will hire him. I believe he only trails 3 or 4 coaches in total wins over the span he has been with the Panthers.

So I hope (and pray) you are correct but I have this bad feeling Jake will be starting come September 2010.

Go Panthers

There is more to becoming the starting QB than just shinning in Pre-Season. Moore doesn't just have to win over the coaches but also the lockerroom. And comments from Gross, Smith and D. Williams proves that Jake hasn't by any means lost the support of the locker room. If anything Moore needs to compete and win a competition between him and Delhomme for the sake of the locker room. Let's face it, the fans may have given up on Jake but locker room hasn't and that is something that the coaches have to take into consideration.

    • First, am I wrong? I looked back over all his posts here and I didn't see anything positive other than Shough. Second, pretty sure if you had read the post I was responding to, you would have seen CRA made poo personal as well . You just choose to address me instead of him. Not sure why?????
    • I wanted XL but I felt he should have been a 2nd rounder but I understand the logic trading up just to get the option. A safety net for your gamble.    Certainly disappointed with his receivers development but i like his down field blocking and I imagine that's what's keeping him on the field.
    • Pretty sure it is a given Young lacks typical QB size and strength and he is here simply because his other attributes more than make up for it. My point is not to indicate anyone "settled" for him but rather to remind people that there have been plenty of big, strong QB's that have not lived up to expectations. Jamis Winston, Anthony Richardson, Trey Lance, JaMarcus Russel are a few examples. They all have the physical attributes coveted by teams and yet none have had sustained success in the NFL. And yes, there are QBs that do have both but there aren't many and some of the ones still playing were failures with their early teams. Saying Young is a bust simply based upon his size (and I do think it is as simple as that for a few guys around here) is unfair to both him and the team.
