Its not even hating anymore. Everyone knows the 49ers roster is elite. Like damn how much more does he need?

It would be unfair if you gave any elite QB that 49ers roster. Purdy has to close the deal if you want to be elite. Can you imagine if Cam had those weapons in his prime?

Dude made a SB with Olsen and trash WRs.

If prime Cam had those weapons the 49ers currently have, I feel as if he would have shouldered less burden on himself and had less injuries and a longer prime to his career as well as had even greater stats and won a few super bowls.

Doesn't really matter how many backs Shanahan has on the roster if he continues to abandon the run.

Agreed. But, I don't think Shanahan would abandon the run as much if he had 2 beasts to hand the ball too.

Also, maybe it's just me but it sure feels like the 49ers have an unfortunate tendency to be beaten up by the time the postseason rolls around.

That was a lot of what kept the Steelers from being more successful under Bill Cowher.

this is Mr. Irrelevant's first season as a starter in the NFL.    Brock Purdy isn't even supposed to be a good version of himself at this stage of his career.

The folks around him are the ones the that need to be taking this L on the chin.

Time to break out the hyperbaric (spelling?) chambers! In all seriousness I agree with your statement.

Purdy is a 2nd year player drafted in the 7th round. He was forced to come in and start in 2022 after Trey Lance (a first round pick) got hurt and never relinquished the job. 2023 was the first time Purdy started a complete 17 game season. Even the great Patrick Mahomes sat the bench during his rookie year.

I blame this loss largely on KC winning the coaching battle in the 2nd half. If Reid had been coaching that Niners offense with Purdy behind center last night I'm sure he would have dialed up some plays to get Deebo and Kittles more involved. Neither guy had a "major impact" in the SB and it ended up hurting SF in the end.

Im curious but who believes Andy Reid/ Pat Mahomes is the next Brady/Bellichek tandem? How many do you think these guys could win together?

my personal guess is Andy Reid isn't going to hang around that long to even make a legit challenge.  So it will be just be Mahomes chasing Brady.

but I think it will be more interesting seeing Mahomes in a non-Andy offense than it was when Brady parted with Belichick.

Reid doesn’t have that many years left.

I could see them winning one or two more though.

Tom Coughlin had the same problem.

Keeping a team healthy long enough to win a Super Bowl is a massive challenge, made worse by the league extending the season to 17 games.

You are probably right. Reed probably will call it quits long before they can challenge that.

Very curious to see what Mahomes will eventually do without Andy Reed's offense. Do they have anyone they can groom to keep his system in place I wonder? Someone who is worthy of leadership to take it over and keep going. Those guys make me jealous. They can trade away their best WR and STILL win Super Bowls!

I still dont like the extension of the regular season for that very reason. That and some old season records when broken wont mean as much now with them having an extra game to do it in.

Gotta go with number 1. Shanahan had the game in hand despite the special teams blunder. Had he ran the ball more and ate up more clock he had a much better chance of winning in regulation.  He lost the game in the 4th quarter by taking the game out of CMC's hands.

The GOATs always find a way to elevate their play and the play around them when it matters.  Brady and Mahomes do this all the time and why they are who they are.  The 49ers could have easily won that game last night and it is easy to second guess everything today, but I'd hold my head high if I was a 49ers fan or player.
