Fox let something slip about the linebacker position next year.

Fox mentioned that the empty spot created by cutting Diggs will be filled by either Anderson or Connor. This is revealing because they are two very different players, and assuming the scheme remains the same, they can't play the same position.

Connor is a 3-4 ILB, and since you're obviously not going to move Beason, he looks like he'd be a SLB. He doesn't have enough speed to play the other side.

Anderson excelled in the WLB after Davis went down, but doesn't have the size to match up with linemen/big tight ends consistently. He'll fall apart if he does.

This indicates to me that they're going to see where Davis is after he returns, and haven't ruled out switching him back to the strong side. After they figure out where he's best suited, then they'll promote anderson or Connor.

Because of this, also, you can put money on the Panthers retaining Anderson if anyone tries to Shanghai him.

also who the f**ks spells connor with an O

Connor is the proper Irish spelling, figured a know it all like you would know that.

I don't waste my time learning about subhuman scum like the irish

Davis to the strongside would be his 4th position move and a mistake.

It's a position he's played before and done well at. It sucks that he'll be moved again, but we'll just have to live with him never receiving the national recognition he deserves.

plus, if he doesn't have the same speed, he might not have a choice.

I didn't think he could play OLB as well. However, as someone pointed out a few days ago...he played the position against NE and tallied 11 tackles.

I thought ACL(or MCL) didn't affect speed?

I think it would work to have him at SLB since we are most likely going to blitz a lot more. He's a decent blitzer. Having peppers at LE though would have helped a lot to make things easier.

Connor definately won't go to the outside, it's foolish to guarantee stuff but I'm about 99.99% sure he doesn't go to the outside. Maybe in pre-season.

I wonder how many of those were against welker as he torched us underneath?

Connor is very smart and has good instincts. He's not going take many steps in the wrong direction but still he's an old school type of LB.

Connor already started a Game at OLB vs New england. He held his own.I think Davis will stay where he is at

why would a linebacker need to match up with a linebacker?

Am I missing something?

    • Im very similar to Ron in being a company/league man. But that ends after the third head hit, I would have lost my religion. Then after I got kicked out of the game, Id 100% be dropping nukes in the after-game presser. fug you fine me whatever, I am going to protect my QB and since logic and reason isn't being used, I can be the bad guy.  The replays showed clear evidence, Id feel no shame in cussing out a crew of chicken poo refs. In fact Id tell the video staff to play infractions on a split screen during my press conference.
    • And even worse you have injuries force you to play anther one dimensional train wreck combine that with Orlov being no were close to as advertised and boom you have 3 defensemen being dressed who couldn't defend my 96 year old grandmother. That said next year having Slavin,Miller,Nikishin,Chatfield gives you the best shutdown d man in the league two large athletic HIGH offensive potential D who can take away time and space....   The more I think about it the more I like this seasons approach, if you bring back burns or aquire anther large RHS with length you have 5 D all over 6'2 and 210 with three of them having great offense too, make no mistake they want size and skill on the blue line now and its almost 100% directed at getting past FL.
    • Honestly the 2024 draft class(minus brooks). All are in line to be starters, expect crumedy who's fighting for a 53.  Still that class was looking terrible, is now looking like 4 starters and maybe 1 depth. Anytime you draft 2 starters and a key depth piece its a good draft. 4 starters are rare and that's with brooks who could have made 5 starters if not for awful luck.  That draft also helped land starter Michael Jackson in a round about way, big bonus..
