Peppers admits to taking plays off

Happy Panther

"Sometimes, you're on the field, you get tired," he said. "If I'm not playing as hard on play 66 as I was on play No. 1, then ... come on."

gets you...

Peppers has the potential to make close to $110 million in the seven-year period between 2009 and 2016.

Well. he better be eating his Wheaties because Cutler will give him a lot of playing time.

lulz. poor cutler. i had such high hopes for him. and they said the heat in denver made him sick from time to time... i think he just sucks unless he has a pro bowl caliber receiver (ie. brandon marshall) to bail him out half the time. i mean, you guys saw what kyle orton, of all quarterbacks, did with brandon marshall catching his passes... almost made the freakin' playoffs.

I would say there is a 80% chance that Lovie Smith is gone next year. He has spent way too much money in two years to not make it deep into the playoffs. The sad part is the Vikes and the Packers are still better.

And yet the Broncos might not even be able to get a 1st for him. If I was our FO I would be offering next years 1st or our 2nd for him. On the field I don't think there is a better receiver in the league (you could argue Fitz). If he can stay out of trouble he would take our offense from what you saw at the end of the season to the Patriots of 07.

I know you'll think I'm crazy but look how good we played even without Smith or Dwill and we didn't have 2 all-pro T. Scary good with a balanced receiving corp. Kind of like the same kind of supercharging we got when we added Otah and Stewart in 08. Marshall IMO is worth the risk for what he could do for this season.

Fwiw, I think most players take plays off. Some players, like wide receivers for example can get away with it easier than a defensive end can.

I think most players take a play or two "off" but Peppers takes games off.

Not a Peppers hater, it's just a fact about him... it's the double-edged sword of his greatness.

The difference between Pepp and "most players" is how evident was it? If the fans see it consistently, it's a problem.

    • I was going to joke and have the Chiefs throw in 2 first rounders..... But as soon as the Mahomes/Bryce trade comes through we need to hit accept and have Mahomes on the very first flight out here; no negotiation needed lol.
    • It will be interesting this year to see if spending time with some of the best QBs and play callers in the league changed Wentz at all. I really think Mills is starter material. He wasn’t awful despite being apart of two dumpster fire seasons before Demeco got there. Plus he would have zero issues seeing over the line.
    • I feel like for once every one of those guys held back. And I think there is a 5'9 100% attitude guy that they're almost hesitant to speak out against. This is the fact of the matter, it's sports. When you win, fans cheer. When you lose, fans boo. Especially consistently year after year with no end in sight. Instead of just talking about us being the Bible belt maybe talk about how we've never once in the franchise history had back to back winning seasons. We love the team, we loved and celebrated Cam and Steve, and even guys like Jake that we love not just because of talent but because of his spirit as the face of the team. But they all won.  Fans pay a lot of money on gear, and on these overpriced tickets to go out and see a horrible product. I've slowed down on watching games because I realized I was spending 4 hours of my day getting annoyed watching a consistently bad product. Outside of a few hopeful games at the end of last year Panthers football hasn't even been enjoyable to watch. When I flip the channel to a Ravens/Eagles game it almost feels like I'm watching a different sport.  I wouldn't just focus so much attention on the city, I'd ask based on the results are they justified.
