& what makes. you think the same knuckleheads that got us into this mess of a situation with the #1 pick is going to be able to get us out of this mess of a  situation with the #1 pick

Different knuckleheads. Tepper still around but different knuckleheads.

Are they better without them?

Did coaching and/or system have more to do with winning/losing than their talents?

We haven’t been winning for years under many different coaches/systems. I think the rot was widespread from FO to coaches to players and the locker room. When you cut out rot you gotta cut deep and wide.

Except the rot looks like the only talent left on the team since Tepper has taken over.

Now we're replacing rot with Tepper's new fresh rot.

it sounds crazy to say but I’m really surprised at the negative reactions. The team stinks and in all likelyhood it will stink no matter what they do.

They don’t have a lot to work with and they absolutely need to support the QB they drafted. They need to look attractive for backups or a new QB next year.

Sacrificing the defense to help the offense bring in new blood makes all the sense in the world. We’ll stink no matter what so prioritize the most important position.

Yep and look at next years QB class… it’s not good

I know they’re not but good lord they needed to do their homework on this years class. I’d take a QB at 33 and not think twice if someone falls

If Bryce didn’t look like absolute dog sh!t last year we wouldn’t be going full blown rebuild and taking on these crazy dead money hits

So they know Bryce ain’t it but will they actually take a swing at 33? I doubt it. Probably build an OL and get ready for next QB

Take Pennix or Daniels if he's still on the board.

    • As a general optimist who tries to be even handed, I was in the “I have hope” but it’s now gone category.  I acknowledged that the bad games were more frequent than the OK ones which were in turn more frequent than the good ones. I just held out hope that he could put things together and more consistently perform at those mid and higher levels. But I’m off that train now. I think he can probably improve his consistency a bit from where he is, but it’ll never be good enough. He’s on the roster next year because he’s under contract, but I don’t think we should pick up his 5th year option and definitely not extend him. He may start next year too because there genuinely are not as many competent QBs as there are starting spots in the league, so the alternatives are all trash. But we’ve got to get fresh blood in the QB room and find our next starter.
    • Dalton was signed to a 2 year contract. That's not done just for preseason. Bryce is in year 3. He doesn't need a mentor. He needs a push. Dalton was here to protect Bryce through the remainder of his contract, minus the 5th year. Bryce has been shielded from threat. Plummer was nothing but camp fodder in his 2nd year, terrible to the point he should have been churned in week 2 or 3 of preseason, but we bring him back year 3 and low and behold, he still sucks. No real number 2 or attempt to get one. No rookie QB. Give Bryce everything he needs and keep him comfortable has been the strategy for 2 years hoping to improve on the disaster that was his rookie season.  It's still a disaster.
    • Canales biggest problem is himself. He cannot figure out what the average Huddler can. We ran the ball to substantially above average success against the 49ers but then continued to call pass play after pass play for a bad QB. The overall fault of the offensive struggling fall far more into Canales lap than even Bryce's. How many times has he continued to do the exact same thing? Go away from something working for unknown reasons?
