It really is terrible when you look at it that way.  Though we still have our 2025 1st round pick, I'm not sure where that one comes into play unless thy reconning the LA trade. In my own copium, let's look at it this way:

1. Keep CMC: continue to muddle about, maybe win two more games under Wilks, slip out of top 10.

2. In 2023: we'd have to trade the farm to go up and get one of the top 3 QBs, or else we have to find a one year rental QB.  Which do we choose?  Win more with a rental, or embrace the suck.  Is Reich the coach?  In this alternate dimension, does Wilks actually get his shot?  So we keep Wilks, playing with JAG QB, running and playing tough D, we extend Burns for the money he wanted since he's the franchise.  We win 8/9 games, close to the division.

3. So here at 2024, we DO NOT have the first overall.  We are at a 12 to 17 for ours, the Rams a little later.  Who do you trade those with to move upwards?

You could absolutely argue we're better, but again, playing revisionist history is exhausting lol.  Better ask an AI to do it!

Right or wrong, good or bad, it doesn't matter.  We're where we are because of past decisions.  Scott Fitterer was a pretty terrible GM.  Now Dan Morgan, for better or worse is left to pick up those pieces and try to rebuild.

It is a real poo show to look at that way, but it's just not that simple, given how fluid the NFL is.  If one thing changes (like we don't trade CMC), it moves everything else.

100%. Playing revisionist history like that always dumb imo. If we don’t trade CMC, it changes everything that comes after. If we do trade Burns to the Rams, it changes everything that comes after. Jesus, it’s almost like none of these people saw the Ashton Kutcher classic “Butterfly Effect”.

In on every deal, yo.

Yeah there's that. Morgan better have what not to do from his buddy Fitterer. If he didn't his time as the guy will be a short one. Unfortunately for us if he is a Fitterer clone in team building we will be right back here in 2 years.

    • Lil Stanky 100% in the dot tonight... And our 2nd line has been our best offensive line this season. Maybe our 2C really was on the roster this whole time...?
    • That’s a grade I kind of expected tbh. I’m not a huge fan of NS, but he’s not as bad as what the huddle says he is minus the horrible game he had vs the Rams. I’ve always thought he’s often used as a scapegoat. The improved pass rush should hide his deficiencies a little bit better if he’s the game one starter. FS might have to be a position we punt on this year unless Thieneman falls to us at 19. The reality is, you're going to have a few average players in certain spots for a team with as many holes we had before free agency started. You can’t sign everyone.
    • I am by no means trying to say he's a world beater. I'm saying it's trending in the right direction. Especially when measured against himself.i think the team feel the same way or else they wouldn't have picked up his option. Plus I think there is a new idea in the NFL about these young QBs. Teams give up to soon. Browns gave up to soon on baker same with the jets on Geno and darnold. Maybe they are who you thought they were in the draft process and they need more time to develop than you originally planned. Either way. I do think he is as capable as darnold is as far as you can win a championship with him. And something he does have that darnold doesn't is he is clutch.  If I need one more drive and 2 mins to go I'm betting on Bryce and I am far from a homer, just going off his game winning drives. He has that dog in him on the last drive.
