Might as well get it started.

Aho/Svech/Jarvis/Orlov/Slavin/Chatty are about all I care to keep. Guentzel at the right price.

Rod needs to answer some tough questions and probably surround himself with some different assistants.

Gleason is fine. If Rod decides to come back and Dundon goes for it send Daniel’s to coach Chicago as a “promotion” he can still develop talent well.

I agree with this, would love to see Daniels go coach Chicago.  Maybe bring Justin down to the bench?

I believe we'll be younger and more inexperienced next year, and our defense will be different.  Still question signing Orlov.  He probably had his worst season with us since 2018-19 or 19-20 seasons while playing less minutes.  He was a luxury I don't think we had to have, but that die has been cast now.

Next year who should be back?

  • Aho
  • Svech
  • Jarvy (gotta get him signed, bridge deal so we can sign Guentzel)
  • Guentzel (gotta hope we can sign him to a fair deal that won't cripple us)
  • Necas (I know there will be debate, but he is very skilled and won't be easy to replace)
  • Staal (if he doesn't retire)
  • Fast (please let him stay healthy)
  • KK (boy that "reasonable" contract isn't looking so hot and I don't think we can get someone to take him off our hands...will take a sweetner to do it)
  • Kuzy (another gamble that looked good for about 3-4 games now looks bad, buyout?)
  • Martinook only if it's a really team friendly deal...no more than $1M/yr
  • Noesen - think he's gone, team has to get the younger guys in
  • Drury - will be interesting, fine 4th line player but shouldn't overpay
  • Turbo - again, it will have to be a very friendly team deal if he wants to stay, otherwise I think Turbotime has expired
  • Lemiuex - signed for another year to be a healthy scratch most of the season
  • Slavin - back
  • Burns - back
  • Orlov - back
  • Skjei - I hope we can re-sign him to a fair deal
  • Pesce - don't see him back in a Canes sweater
  • Chatty - would like to re-sign to a fair deal
  • TDA - hasta la vista

Who should get the call to the roster:

  • Morrow - welcome to the deep end kid
  • FUS - really think he is going to be good
  • Blake - let's see what you got young man
  • Honka - actually rated higher than Morrow by scouts
  • Nadeau - see Blake
  • Suzuki, Gunler??

Of course who knows what the brain trust is going to do!

Going Young:

Guentzel - Aho - Jarvis

Svech - KK - Necas

Nadeau - Staal - Fast

Blake - Drury - FUS

Lemiuex

Slavin - Burns

Orlov - Skjei

Chatty - Morrow

Honka

Andersen (1a/b)
Koochie (1a/b)
Perets

Heck I have no idea........

Yeah, I think next year will be a semi-rebuild/bridge year until we get nikishkin here. But... If we are able to have those lines you have above next year, I will be thrilled.

Edit: I'm fairly certain Staal retires or goes to another team next year

I think they still have the talent to make the playoffs... probably as a wc. But yeah Nikishin is gonna be a star I can tell you that he's gonna be our Cale Makar

That said we need a 2C I think it's Jarvis.

It’s not good when our 2C is Staal. I believe Jarvy could be like Trocheck but a little better.

Staal won't go to another team, he's signed for another year....maybe 2.  He may retire, but I don't get that feeling.

    • Also hit the over.  Banking on Man City running up the score and Leeds getting a lucky strike.
    • Tailed you.  Also Free Play, which is why the risk shows $0.00. Let me look at hoops and get back to you.  Always fade Hubert, haha.
    • Hard to say right now, but good thinking.  I look at this as the info we need for free agency.  Looks like we are going to free up about $10m so far; watch to see if any contracts (Moehrig, Horn, Brown, etc) are reworked the first week of March.  Then after free agency, we will have a pretty good idea. Right now, to be fair to your question because I am sure you are aware of its timing: In free agency, I see us adding an OT of some sort and drafting one at some point.  It all depends on how they view Ickey, Nijman, and maybe BC.  That OT could be Nijman.  I do not see the future OT--just a stop gap. I see the Panthers signing a free-agent center.  I think the market is strong.  I see Fortner from the Saints as a prime candidate and his salary is estimated at $6m by Spotrac.  the Saints are $42m over the cap, so I doubt they are able to re-sign many of their own.  He will be 28.  I also expect them to re-sign Corbett (depth) at a vet min ($1.5m) deal. I also see free agency as a strong area to get a free safety who can play and is under age 30.  Hawkins, Cook, and Bryant are all around age 27-28, play at a high level, and should be had for about $15m per. EDGE: Arnold Ebiketie is a good value because he gets pressure at a high percentage.  He had 2 sacks and Atlanta just drafted 2 pass rushers last year.   He has a 70+ PFF rating and will (Spotrac) demand about $9m.  While he is not the answer, he is a great third down option with Princely and he would allow for Jones, Scourton, and Princely to develop.
