Panthers Unlikely to Make a Move on GM Hurney

“I think he’s doing an outstanding job,” Morrison told the Charlotte Observer. “If you look at our track record since 2002, and our last four draft classes, having 26 of the 32 picks here…I think Marty Hurney’s excellent job speaks for itself.”

I agree with this statement, and I hope we hang on to Hurney. I have a feeling we will. I'm not of the opinion that Hurney's fate should be tied with Fox's, but I suppose it is.

Meh...I'm sorta indifferent to Hurney. He has his strengths and weaknesses. I think supporters tend to overrate him too much when trying to defend him(Same way with Fox). He's an okay GM. But his biggest problem is people will tie him to Delhomme, Peppers, and Fox(and rightfully so). I do appreciate the fact that he seems to be the only one who accepts blame in this franchise...ex: Playoff game two years ago, Buffalo Bills game last season, and recently on WFNZ.

I would have liked it if we let him go because I see Fox being gone next year, but it is what it is at this point.

Oh, snap! Fox has been dissed!

Not really. If they didn't offer Hurney a new contract they wouldn't have a GM come summer - his contract doesn't run through the regular season like Fox's does. Changing GMs at that time seems like a bad idea.

I think this falls under the fact of people not knowing what they have till its gone. Hurney while not the best GM in the league is not the worst ether and has put together some fine drafts. You also cant give him all the credit ether cause its three people making the decisions. JR,Fox, and Hurney. So all of them need to get credit and need to be bash some too.

I hope we keep Fox and Hurney. Conservative, some dumb personnel move, but I think its way better then some of the alternatives

i agree. not too sure who will get fired next season, but i don't see another coach out there that will come in and do a better job than Fox. yeah, Cowher is out there, but last i heard, he wanted Tom Coughlin's job, and he'd only run the exact same offense and defense... maybe he might put a little more pep in our players' steps. but i'm ok with Fox and Hurney. it's not pretty half the time, but they get the job done.

I do hope Fox dose well this year. Matt Moore is more then capible of putting up 20 points a game and we will get so see really what kind of OC Davidson is.

Also I really think Meeks could make our D very good given some more time.

....But Im also sure Fox will change my mind by mid season and I will be calling for his head again cause of being way to conservative and poor playcalling.

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
