Trent Dilfer: "Bradford Not Even Close to best player in Draft"

So Trent Dilfer has no credibility because he is:

A) Not in the Hall of Fame

B) Bald

C) An arrogant douche

Got it.

i just choose not to believe him because he's a douche. the other two don't help the argument, but they don't hurt it either. kind of like how not everyone who has a mustache is a pedophile, but all pedophiles have mustaches.

I also think the rams taking Bradford at #1 is a major mistake. The guy has only had one good season and is coming of a pretty major injury. I feel that they should drop down pick up and extra second or third. They will still get an immediate starter in the 1st. Then at the top of the 2nd grab one of the QB's that fell a bit, since they always do.

Dilfer explains that, in his view, Bradford hasn't been "challenged" in the college game, and that selecting Bradford could end up being a "catastrophic" mistake for the Rams.

If someone is critiquing the QB's I would want it to be from a skills point of view. Examples, can't throw the out route, bad decision making, takes too long to recognize the defense, choppy mechanics in the pocket or on deep passes ect.

I don't think you can knock Bradford because he hasn't be challenged... Maybe I do not understand the meaning of “challenged” in that context. To me Bradford played the same defenses as McCoy, and besides USC Clausen was never challenged by tough defenses either.

Rather Bradford is the next Peyton Manning or Ryan leaf he still is playing the same talent.... Don't think you can evaluate someone like that simply on who their competition was... There still the same player no matter whom they played.

Hey, if the question is whether Bradford is the best QB in the draft, I actually agree with him. I would gladly take McCoy, Suh or even Bradford (depending on your assesment of his intangibles) ahead of Sammy there. That doesn't mean I think he'll be horrible though, which Trent seems to be sold on. I just think there's better.

First off he is right Bradford is not the best player in the draft. But then again neither were Mark Sanchez and Matt Stafford last year. It is called positional value. Look it up. That said the Rams can not afford to pay another 1st round salary on the DLINE.

The SUH love fest is kinda on my nerves. Sam Bradford is very similar to Eli Manning. Spags could see that similarity to. This Colt McCoy love is BS to. The guy is your typical high profile college winner that does NOT have tools to win in the NFL.

They will take him, and I would too if I were in their shoes.

They need to sell the team, fill the seats, and win some games....D tackle helps, but not nearly as much as a "franchise" QB.

If they hit good on him, he can easily upgrade the team by 6-7 wins...and if they miss, they can't get any worse.

If they pick D line, they do not really win more games off the bat, hence can't sell the team for what it's worth, and are stuck picking in the top 5 again next year.

Take the QB, they are worth the risk.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
