Help me out here--So Tremble thinks he is good to go today, but maybe they have decided to give him a week.  We have Sanders and Matthews who can play this weekend, and we sign a guy from another PS (Swinson) and put him on the active roster.  Tremble returns week 2 and Thomas returns week 4.  We really don't need the new TE after week 1.

This new TE does not know the offense--how effective can he be week 1?  Furthermore, we have Phillipe Franks on the PS and he probably knows the offense.  What do we do with Swinson after week 1?

Was Thomas placed on IR??

There maybe a couple IR erereresssss (new) 2morrow with the first injury report. Something is going on with the TEs..

The new TE at a glance seems like a blocking specialist.

There's huge ??????? going on with the CBs, OLB, and TEs. Just looks like they could not get CBs to try out here and claimed 3 in order to check them out. Just 7 is far too many, most years they carried 4 for periods, 5 max. TEs no fuging clue, someone is shitting the bed and eating breakfast afterwards. OLB HC even doesnt know. they cut a young former 1st couple days before the game and he's been here for the whole OTAs, Mini, TC etc.

Can you see the team if clowney goes down with a injury??- shiit show

How about taking a TE in round one or two like I've been saying for years and we wouldn't be in this situation.

Not much talent left in the room. Well, I guess there's not much talent left period, we've been doing this for the last five years.

The Panthers' fans underrate a talented player — remember the 'number 2' D.J. Moore? The fans call for them to be traded. The player is traded. The room is devoid of talent and the picks acquired are wasted. The fans then complain that the cupboard is bare.

I feel like this just the Tepper way. The Panthers seem like they're being run by a short-sighted reactionary fan these days.

The hit rate is low for them in the 1st.

Honestly the best rounds for TEs is 3-5. There's plenty of 5th round studs.

Sanders could be added, he's just a rookie and got a clear path if he puts in the work.

I'd have 2 overpaided TEs and own the middle field each week.

the bungals are 18th on the wavier, it seems he wasn't highly thought of like most(include me) believed.

I got no clue what they are doing for OLB after clowney, they did try out Charles Harris. If they wait after week one the salary is not guaranteed.

That's about it unless you trust Randy Gregory to not fail the easiest drug test in the world(he will)

Honestly the best route is trade, but ALL teams are looking for edge help. Ultra high demand and low supply, thus 2025 draft is the way......

I think we should sit tight--this is year one of a two year rebuild, imo.  Barno and Wonnum are returning, and DJ and Leota have shown improvement.  DE is a tough position to learn in the NFL, and our history with some of our best Edge players tells us that year 3 is often when the light comes on--Charles Johnson, Greg Hardy, Mike Rucker.

  • MIke Rucker (second round pick) had 5.5 sacks during his first 2 years.  Year 3?  9 sacks.  Year 4?  12.5 sacks.  Year 5?  10 sacks.
  • Charles Johnson (third round pick) only appeared in 3 games his first season, so we are not counting it.  His first two full seasons were not bad, but not good.  CJ had 10 sacks in his first two full seasons.  After that he had 52.5 sacks over the next 5 seasons. ( 11.5, 9, 12.5, 11, and 8.5.)
  • Greg Hardy (6th round pick)  had 3 sacks as a rookie and 4 sacks as a sophomore.  Year 3?  11 sacks.  Year 4?  15 sacks.

Amare Barno is entering year 3.  So far, he has 2 sacks over 24 games.  He needs to step up--I hate that he was injured because he has tools.

DJ Wonnum has 2, 8-sack seasons (4 total--8 sacks in 2023).

Jadeveon Clowney did about as well in Baltimore (9.5 sacks in 2023).

DJ Johnson and Eku Leota are developmental players in year 2.  Neither has sacked the QB.

We simply need a good year out of Clowney, Wonnum needs to have another 8-sack season and either DJ Johnson or Amare Barno needs to step up in a big way.  Just one of them--and both are elite athletes with good size.  Not ideal, I get it.  But Edge rushers are difficult to find, and we are not getting one in a trade.

I did not mention the Sheriff.  Stranger things...

I can only think (guess) they plan to upgrade the practice squad with the new guy when his work is done on the 53. It is the only thing that makes sense outside of replacing one of the rostered guys.

edit: I guess if they got him for blocking they can pay him for the week or two and cut him when T or T gets healthy.

We literally have only 1 star on the entire defense.

0 stars on offense.

This season will be about players making a name for themselves. Not sure who will step up, but that's the fun part we get to watch and see who becomes the next Burns or DJ Moore.

This is absurd.  I am going to remember how we had 1 good player when people start balling.  This from a guy that had Colorado contending last year.  LOL

Dude we are picking Edge early next draft unless Bryce gets hit by a bus.  Very little doubt there

    • I'm not a Bryce hater and I would 100% move on.  Especially looking at how the upcoming qb draft looks on paper.  Hopefully he continues to improve but if in 3 seasons you're still chasing average season numbers then he's not going to be the guy.  You've just got to keep taking swings until you hit.  Average qbs without any elite physical traits cant get it done anymore.  So this year Hopefully he continues to develop and is above average statistically.
    • Meltdowns???? He was pulled by Canales because he wasn't executing the game plan after 2 games into the season so he could watch Dalton execute the offense and show Bryce the windows available in the NFL, how to push the ball down the field and how to step up and move around when blitzed. When Young came back 5 games later he clearly watched and improved. Enough he was named the future starter. He doesn't have a history of  meltdowns nor is there any reason to assume he will have one. From what I have read he is mentally strong and emotional stable. He may have bad games down the road, everyone does. But this is all a learning experience for him and so far he seems to be making progress. I can understand being hesitant on anything Panthers, but Young has surprisingly been able to gain his confidence after a disastrous start. You aren't alone in being cautious but I think he is the future. I thought he was too small and too short to succeed in the NFL. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised last year and am optimistic about the offense for the first time since Wilks and Dalton were decent.
    • The Rams wanted to trade up for Williams who they ended up within the end. They even told him that when they called him to let him know he is the pick. The other teams are only an assumption. Like the Cowboys, who took a guard. The truth is the team wanted to trade down first and foremost but couldn't get an offer the were happy with. They took McMillan because they felt he was bpa at 8 plain and simple.
