Dammit CJ Stroud looks good again so far tonight.......

I was hoping he would suck tonight to make me feel better. My kid kept calling for CJ Stroud in the draft and I am supposed to be the football "expert" in his eyes due to my history with the sport but I wanted Levis so his pick blew mine out the water. All I hear now is how he was right and I was wrong. Neither of us picked Bryce for what it's worth but both got behind him in support big time so it's been quite a bummer all the way around the past couple years.

As Panthers fans we're gonna be hearing about this one for years.

I've accepted it. Just have to swallow that lump in your throat and keep moving.

All that being said. This oft used cope by some people that he would have sucked here needs to never be seen again. Talent is talent. He might have had some struggles here but he unequivocally would change this offense with his physical abilities.

I agree with everything you just said. There is no way Stroud would have looked sucked here because he is simply as solid as they get. I can't believe we flubbed that draft so badly and traded so much for that pick. Truly depressing that out of all the QB's drafted early that year we ended up with the only player who is already failing out of the league beyond a shadow of a doubt. The other guys not named Stroud are not guaranteed yet but they still have a shot. Bryce on the other hand now feels as if it is all said and done on Bryce's career already this early into it. I just really cant see a turnaround at all. Never seen anyone look as bad as Bryce let alone completely change their trajectory before. I understand struggling but not looking flat out that scared and terrible. Worst case I have ever personally watched

I'm past this and pull for Stroud cause I like him. I've now set my eyes on 2025. We will have a new chance to get it right. Hopefully we do.

Do you think they will draft QB in 2025 or give Bryce another season? I mean we are the Tepper Panthers so im paranoid of us doing something completely nonsense stupid like give Bryce another season next season.

I think Canales will want his own guy, new regime typically means new QB. So I forsee one if we are anywhere in the top 5.

    • Coaches can't mentor, they coach, they are two entirely different things, and your coaches can also only do so many things at one time.  When they're running a drill, the vets are pulling the young guys aside after their reps and giving tips while waiting for the drill to reset. You do also realize that for the most part, players are only around the coaches in the film room and on the field, coaches aren't in the locker room other than just before the game and at half.  That's another place someone like Thielen shines, he's always been a pro's pro, he's going to take these young WRs under his wing and team them how you go about being an NFL player. That's not stuff coaches do, you NEED the vets for it and Thielen has embraced the role.  When you have a guy who made his career on doing the little things right, and he is willing to be that vet mentor to a group of young WRs in their 1st or 2nd year that you hope to be your future 1-4, then he's worth every penny we're giving him this year.
    • Why in Minnesota? That's bizarre. Not like we have a vet WR who played his college ball and the majority of his NFL ball in Minnesota that a few room temperature IQ Panthers fans want to poo on who was obviously brought in every bit as much to mentor young WRs as much as he was to play who has still managed to put up decent numbers in awful offenses in the twilight of his career. Anyone who thinks the Panthers haven't gotten everything out of Thielen that they signed up for shouldn't be taken seriously.
