Keeping it real about Bryce Young. Listen to those who actually watched film.

I know.... old. Just when I thought I was out...

I argued over and over with people about Young's arm strength and velocity.

I tried to give a good example of why he sucked more or less, with the baseball pitcher analogy of pitching under control vs raring back and giving it all you have.

Basically the idea is that if you throw 99, throw 96 with better control and less effort, etc.

I said Bryce had to throw 100% to get anything decent on the throw. Which kills your accuracy. Damned if i didn't stumble on a great example.

Carr vs Mahomes velocity test:

See the on targets from Mahomes, and the misses high? What's Bryce been doing on his deep balls? Missing long.

Reviving this thread for this season.

Yes

i shared that second video yesterday along with one from Panthers advice

both are credible

at some point, people have to accept the tape dont lie   Accept what their eye see

3 called turnovers dont  lie, shoulda been 4

In the nfl, if you aint got at least a consistent qb, you aint got nothing

if isnt just the turnovers, it is the  timing  of them  bith in game and situational of  the season

like  someone said, when it doesn't matter, he plays well.  When it does matter, forget about it, he does not handle the expectations

Different people across the sports media spectrum will make their own conclusions about the tape for Bryce Young. Much of the conclusions will be based upon personal feelings instead of actual analysis. But to me the only opinion about the tape that truly matters is that of our opponent. The Jaguars are not a very good football team. They have a first time head coach. They are not significantly more talented than us. But they saw the same tape every other upcoming opponent has or will see and they formulated a very basic plan to negate anything Bryce Young was doing and they did so with ease.

I don't think any of our opponents are game planning against Bryce. It's 10 v 11.

I'm trying to be kind but yeah. The Jaguars did nothing out of the ordinary or exotic they didn't even blitz much. They had absolutely no concern about Bryce's passing ability. That cannot be understated.

The only thing saving my sanity is the fact that the Jags were unfamiliar territory. First year HC...new offensive and defensive playcallers. Maybe we looked so bad because we didn't know what exactly to expect.

OR maybe I'm just giving them another excuse for another piss poor opening weekend.

Either way, we should get atleast one more time to see what we really have vs Arizona.

…or because

1. Evero never adjusts.  Ever. He does what he does no matter how many times it fails

or

2. Canales cant adjust given the QB

I saw Canales press conference.   You would have thought they  won thrgame

the LT was horrible and he annointed  him    He is part of the problem

1. True...which is crazy since most of us celebrated when he was hired. I'll never forget the press conference where he was so convinced he'd finally b the coordinator able to get Jeremy Chinn back on track.

2. Canales: I thought this guy was supposed to be the QB whisperer. The new wave of offense in the league... nope.

While it is too early to determine "I told you so" victors, I was banging the table for Daniel Jones--of course, that was before I realized that Carolina was the minor leagues for QB development.

And if we're being honest Daniel Jones is still the better QB by a wide margin. And he has a playoff win.

Lol I don’t understand why everyone is liking that post and quoting it, it’s from last season. Did I miss something?

It just highlights that the supposed best attribute about Bryce Young that being his football IQ and elite processing was fools gold from the start. Daniel Jones is not really that much better in that area. But. Like Sam Darnold. Jones has the physical talent in order to compensate for it at times. Though both have faltered like Bryce when the lights are bright too. They can at least put up significant yardage and put the ball places other QB's can't. Bryce does not and never did have that. Every little thing on both sides of the ball have to go perfect for him to be even serviceable. That is why it was such a foolish gamble to make. If you trade up like we did you take the best physical passer or you don't trade up. Even the Giants after giving Jones that contract they are still in a more advantageous position QB wise than we are. Because they weren't stupid enough to give up a haul and a talented WR for a physical outlier at QB. It's all self inflicted. Sigh...
