Current Draft Position & Potential Prospects

Defense, Defense and Defense. Or trade down and defense. If this current Bryce shows up next year and these rookies keep developing offense will be fine. Of course Tmac or Burden help. But what other WR's come in and start over XL, Coker, or Theilen with Sanders at Tight end.  I'm all for WR in middle rounds to prepare for life after AT but develop for a year.

Damn that changed everything lol well dam if that's the list I'm definitely changing my tune on how productive he may end up that damn tweet is confusing it's going to be a really interesting draft for us.

Yea, seems like a tweet written to get interactions, as that follow up he made completely changes it.  If he included those names in the first tweet, it would have entirely changed how people took it.

Like I said, if you've watched every snap of his like I have, he has zero issue getting separation, his contested targets are because of the double/triple teams as well as the QB just forcing it to him when he is covered (as no WR gets open on EVERY route they run no matter how good they are).

When a QB/WR combo in college have played together for literally the last 8 years of their lives and are best friends, as well as having no other receiving threats, you're going to see a lot of that QB just trusting his WR to make a play and chuck it up to him when he shouldn't.

No, he's not a quick twitch athlete like a Tyreek and going to get separation in that same way, but as I've said every time people mention T-Mac's size and assume he's just a plodding big WR... he's not.  He has MORE than enough speed and wiggle in his game to get the job done at an elite level in the NFL, he just also happens to be 6'5" with a catch radius the NFL hasn't seen since Calvin Johnson.

And any "lack of separation" he might have compared to those 6' quick twitch speedsters, is negated by how great he is at making contested catches.

We will have cap room and for the most part, the best free agents every year are on the defensive side of the ball because teams try not to let their offensive stars hit the open market.

Drafting defense early in the draft won't have as much of an impact as adding T-Mac would, especially if we use all our cap room on the defense in free agency.

If T-Mac is there, he's the pick, he's literally the best player/fit combo in the draft for this franchise and the current state of the roster.  XL has potential but he's never going to be that true outside #1.

The best defensive players in the draft are two CBs and a DT, the only positions on defense that we have potential pro bowl talent right now.  None of the QB's in this draft make sense to go for after we made the Bryce mistake so recently and still have so many holes.  We're set on the offensive line right now except Center, which obviously you don't use a Top 5 pick for.

If we end up around 10, T-Mac isn't going to be there and it's the right place in this draft to go after an edge rusher, but if we're at about 5, T-Mac really needs to be the target.

Why did this guy end the tweet with "Yikes" as if this is a bad stat just because those other players haven't become anything in the NFL?

I'm not as familiar with those other guys' college games, maybe they had so many contested targets because they weren't great route runners and separating, but T-Mac's is because he's is CONSTANTLY double and even triple teamed and Fifita has been forcing passes to him because there is nobody else to pass to.

And yet he still is coming down with the ball most of the time

To me, this is just another feather in his cap for why he's such an elite prospect.

It is a very bad stat.  Guys that don't get separation in college are often very bad in the nfl.

It’s a misleading stat

As I also pointed out, the guy followed that tweet up by saying the next names on the list are some of the best young WRs in the league right now.

That stat doesn’t mean he can’t get separation, it means he’s getting double and triple teamed all the time, and the lack of other quality options in that offense means the QB is constantly forcing the ball to him when he shouldn’t be.

AND he still makes those contested catches because his hands and catch radius are so good.

I'm aware of how you feel about him and how you are going to interpret any metric.

Yeah he put it together one season decently and has not since. I've seen hundreds of college QB's very up close and Lawrence is in the top 5% easily of all I've seen in terms of impressed me and what I saw him do but that is definitely a long time removed now and something isn't clicking with him. Don't know what it is or why but I hope he figured it out for his sake.

Accuracy. He has everything else but pinpoint accuracy.

In College that Clemson system just asked him to get the ball to a spot on time. Whenever he was asked to put it in a tight window / to the back shoulder he couldn't do it consistently.

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
