LaFell Discussion Here.

This is from the Lindy's Pro Football Draft Guide.

Blocking Physical Downfield Blocker. Seem to take pride in his ability to keep his assignment from making the tackle. Looks to escort teammates downfield if they break in the open.

In Our View/The top rated senior wideout according to National and BLESTO, the two scouting servies most NFL teams use, in the preseason. LaFell leaves LSU with 175 career receptions for 2,517 yards and 25 touchdowns. Blessed with a rare blend of size, strength and body control, LaFell likely would ahve been drafted in the first round last year had he elected to come out early. He initially did, then had a change of heart, and questions about his deep speed and hands arose that will keep him out of the top half of the first round in 2010. However, his status as the top senior wideout remains secure.

I doubt it, his upsides seem to be him taking over the "moose" role. But I'm getting excited about him the more I learn. What are his downsides? Small hands (lol) and beating the press?

Lapses in concentration, work ethic, drops a lot of passes he shouldn't

Some LSU fans call him LaDrop

i'm not a college football guy, but i watched hours of Tate clips last night when everyone was talking about him. honestly, it seemed like 75% of his highlights were really Clausen highlights. great throws and good catches.

but this LaFell kid looks like a monster.

That's what I see with Tate too. He's a weapon when he gets the ball in his hands (like a running back in the open field) and he's got some athletic ability, but the majority of his plays are because Clausen's so goddamn accurate.

I have to agree with this 110%. I liked Tate because of what he brang to the table after the catch, but he's not that great in making the catch. He's like Steve Smith after the catch but like Dwayne Jarrett before it. :(

Looking at those clips he does remind me of Moose, except he seems more like a fluid athlete. Moose always stuck me as a bit stiff like a TE, though not as big. Remember, Moose had the case of the dropsies early on in his career. He earned the nickname "stone hands" for a few years, while he would make the though catches he would inexplicably drop the routine ones.
