Will Clausen be a holdout come training camp?

IF he is stupid.

He couldn't do a dumber thing than to hold out. Right now he has the opportunity to come in and take the job (or at least prepare himself for his future opportunity). If he holds out, he will have no chance at being a starter for the forseable future.

that will set the tone for his career imo....with his questions marks being what they are and his fall in the draft.....if he held out for money it would pretty much kill any shot the kid will at earning the respect of this lockerroom....which for him might be a tough task regardless.

I'd say it's a given that his contract will take a while to get signed.

Fox and Company shouldn't have showed thier cards that they were trying to trade up and get him. Just take him at 48, say you're happy to have him, and them pay him the alotted money at that spot.

By saying they were trying to get to 32, that gives Clausen and his agent ammo to demand more money.

He can sit out all he wants though, only hurts his chances of beating out Matt

    • when we drafted Bryce Young that team might have been more talented than the team we currently have ?  that was the whole reasoning behind morgagting  our immediate future to trade up to #1 overall for BY. our front offices & owners felt like hey guess what the time is now to srike while the iron is hot go hire an All Star coaching staff we were only a Qb away from taking that next step ..just saying
    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
