What Clausen has going for him is: he probably knows a great deal of the playbook already from being at ND...Intangibles...Work Ethic...understanding of the hots, reads, line checks

What Clausen doesnt have going for him: Experience...Behind on the NFL game as a rookie should be.

I would be surprised if Clausen started the season, but I would be surprised if Moore was the starter at the end of the year. Clausen is further along than Sanchez at this point. Sanchez only ran sc's offense for a year. While Clausen has ran NDs for 3. Just look at it this way...Sanchez had success with a hell of run game, and defense. Does Carolina have that? I think the the defense will actually be the key to how soon Clausen starts.

This ain't baseball, you don't promote and demote QB's especially. Moore is starting until he proves he ISN'T a viable starting QB in the NFL.

Can anyone give an example in history where a QB who has been playing at least OK on a contending team has been replaced by a QB with no experience but a higher talent ceiling.

Now I know the definitions of playing ok and a contending team are debatable. But if anyone is saying Clausen will start over Moore they need to prove it's happened at least one in the last 40 years or so...

Why would we start him unless it was necessary? Moore will start and probably finish the season. It's better for Clausen to learn and adjust, it's better for the team because you keep continuity and increase Moore's value. If Moore gets hurt or REALLY struggles, you'll see Jimmy.

I think this is Moore's last year with us, though.

the Jets had success....Sanchez was Delhomme-like often last season.

Top of my head...without looking.

Cutler goes in for Jake the Snake, and because of rookie struggles they miss the playoffs. He gets experience in game time situations and goes on the next season to throw for 4,000 yards.

You want it, you got it.

Starting a rookie is usually not a good idea. Clausen would have to make jaws drop in the preseason, while Moore falls completely apart. Moore's done well enough in his starts to earn the job, but an undrafted QB with little experience doesn't have a strong hold on the position, especially with Jake the vet falling apart last season.

This guy thinks Clausen will be Offensive Rookie of the Year. I kind of hope he's right, since that would surely mean a winning season.

    • I am really sorry  that  happened to you they say to never meet your sports heroes i have friends who met  mickey mantle when they were young and he was a belligerent alcoholic at the time  ut broke their hearts  I had the opportunity to meet and spend  time with Cam Newton.     He was the polar opposite of Steve Smith and his public image.   Polite.  Honest when asked question.  You could tell the things that mattered to him and the things that  didnt. The disappointments in himself and the things that hurt him  those qualities make him quite a good interviewer too  i genuinely liked him   Im sure as young, rich, sports hero, he has not been a choir boy but there is goodness in him  the time i met him i took one of my friends with me from the west coast. She said she didn't like him and wasn’t enthusiastic about meeting him.  She left loving him   No one can say anything bad about ‘her Cam’ anymore
    • Agree about oline. They've tried their best to improve that area. But honestly, has it looked like the most expensive oline in the NFL to you? Not just with Bryce. With Dalton's one game where they almost got the old man killed.  Also YAC shouldn't always be hitting a guy in stride while he's running full speed. Pickens killed us after the catch and those weren't all hit-in-stride plays. I remember a play in Miami when a guy caught a 5 yards curl and took it like 30-40 yards to the house. We don't have that in Carolina. Horn might be the closest thing to that but he can't get significant PT for whatever reason. If Bryce keeps trusting his receivers to make plays, I think he'll become more consistent. Seemed like he only trusted TMac. And force feeding one receiver isn't sustainable. Defenses will start to blanket him and take him out of the game. And yeah, keep taking deep shots. I hate all that dink and dunk football. Hate it.
    • Dan Marino sucked too I guess. Washed up Elway carried by Terrell Davis was actually better than prine Elway. Lol
