He's not just arrogant; he is confident and funny but doesn't flaunt around too much. It's like he knows his place well enough that he can pull off the arrogance he does show (I guess humor mitigates it as well). I like Smith; he really will be the best Panther ever (in my book, at least).

if I was gambling man Smitty probably called him a punk. Smitty probably talks junk about plenty of guys....he is pretty uptight when it comes to football. He threw a VERY young Jarrett under the bus imo in front of the media before.....why wouldn't Smitty call Clausen with a rep and has already been a tad brash a punk? Two sides, both are believeable imo. Gotta side w/ Smitty but Florio could easily be on point.

Steve is the same guy that punched out a teammate who was down on a knee in 08 and the same guy the went nuts cursing out coaches b/c of play calling in 09. Dude is uptight and angry when it comes to football....sure he is cool and calm on TV. Smitty still has the same mouth and anger issues when it comes to football he always has had. Based on Gantt's tweets it sure does sound like he was sugar coating how Jimmy came off in mini camp to vets. To me, knowing Gantt, that was Gantt's way of saying he did rub the vets kinda the wrong way already in the first camp.

I am not saying it is believeable bc/ it is Florio...I am saying it is believeable b/c it is Steve Smith. I love Smitty as much as any Panther fan but that doesn't mean I can't imagine saying a kid is being a punk and assuming he might to at least get through training camp before he earns the right to start barking at vets.

well Gantt commented about his "forward approach" rubbing some people wrong and followed it up with "it's only minicamp". So I am doing some assuming some of this was observed at minicamp and not the text that Gross already commented on. But you could be correct.

There's a method to reading Florio.

As often as not, he's quoting an article from another source. Read his take if you want, but also be sure to click what's linked and read from there.

Sometimes, you'll find the article and his interpretation don't completely mesh. Thus, it's wise to get the raw info from the original source (and if you're posting, link it).

PFT makes a pretty good "portal" for stories if you use it that way.

If , on the other hand, the story is purely his or from one of his "sources", bear that in mind as you read it.

Florio is basically full of poo. How in the hell can he be trying to protect a source? This is illogical. If Smith said those specific things, then he obviously knows who he said it to, and the supposed source would already be busted anyway. If I said some pretty specific and derogatory remarks about someone to someone, or even in the company of someone, then I am sure as hell goig to remember who was around when I made such marked remarks. They would be busted as soon as I heard that the cat was let out of the bag. Florio is trying to hide behind a facade of high ideals and/or journalistic priciples that Panthers fans know is not part of his m.o. Smith is an in-your-face, tell-it-like-it-is cat (much like myself). No way he made those remarks without admitting that he said them. And that's why I know he didn't say them.

Florio is full of poo. I'm telling you.

And, you damn right Smitty is mad, Florio. That's obvious! When you pretty much publish some ill-advised B.S., that makes a person angry. You should expect that. But, that's not a reason not to "man up" and address the situation head on.
