Mike played well above expectations last year, but I’m probably rolling the dice and letting him walk unless I’m planning on moving Horn.

We could be paying him at his peak--I dunno.  Josh Norman was a late bloomer--so you never know.

Absolutely not. Way too expensive for a 28 year old player with limited starting experience. 2 years $7m is fair. He played well down the stretch but they can’t overpay for the CB position when Horn’s extension is coming up.

Yeah, we have to keep in mind we don't have a ton of cap space. If Horn and Ikey are gonna get deals in the near future, we can't be too free with the cap space.

It is probably nothing--but Evans and Bartholomew, a pair of CBs from their PS, looked decent to good in the last game or two.  Still, you sign Jackson if you can--ask yourself, "Would you rather have Mike Jackson or DJ Wonnum?" $7 million savings to cut Wonnum.

Generally when I look at a thread I also take note of who created it. I see Juan's name I already know what time it is and enter accordingly.

Yeah, I appreciate Juan for digging and finding nuggets, but if you read his headline and then see his name beneath it, you do temper expectations.  I'd rather have him on the front lines, however, than not.

Like I always say, if you control the guaranteed money we can pay him a good salary without killing the cap as long as we don't keep trying to kick the can down the road with dead money if he doesn't work out. We need some stability at corner and this would go a long way to shoring up the position. We learned with Gettleman that you can't do a fruit bowl turnover of players every year unless you want to have a team that can't put together consecutive winning seasons. Under Tepper we got worse and can't seem to even have one winning season. We need consistent staff and players to build a culture and our talent. With our QB on a rookie contract we need to lock in other positions before he takes up a big chunk of the cap space. And how about limiting the dead cap money we seen to keep oozing as we let guys go or trade them...

Agreed. Dan Morgan got Mike Jackson for our 7th round LB I think he's confident he can find another low cost starter if he can't re-sign Mike.

    • Seems to me that the Bucs have less fight in them now than they had in week 16. The real test is going to be if the Panthers can sustain focus and discipline throughout. With the Bucs being at home, maybe that gives them a little boost of confidence and energy.  Wouldn’t it be something if for ONCE the Panthers came out and dominated from the opening snap and just took this shook Bucs team to task?  If the Panthers see-saw form follows, we are in line for the W. Hard to say we have momentum but we do have a pretty clear pattern of following a loss with a win.  I’m going to say 24-16 Panthers!!
    • When Parcell’s said Bryce better “walk on water”…..the implied concern wasn’t that the tiny QB could survive being hit.  It was acknowledging he would have to be extremely special to overcome the handicaps he would face at this level.  Which he isn’t and can’t.  which isn’t just being hit.  It’s being able to play in an NFL pocket and make NFL throws from it….and that ultimately is Bryce’s problem.  He doesn’t play well from a NFL pocket and can’t make all the throws as needed.  He can’t see as others can.  Which impacts the throws he does and doesn’t take.  It also impacts him bailing and killing plays and turning them into scrambles/dead plays
    • 9:30 kick off here in Scotland, which is better than the 01:20 early hours of Monday that I feared. Will definitely be watching, but probably wouldn't if it had been 0120 as I need to be up for work at 05:45. Falcons Saints is 6pm on the Sunday so will watch that too if it becomes relevant
