Mark Williams Unwilling to Return to Hornets

The NBA has been in existence for decades it's baffling that there isn't already something in place to prevent something like this there have been countless trades over the years this can't be the first time something like this has happened. And certainly the Hornets cannot be expected to simply lose him for nothing now on top of having to buy him out.

No way in release him for him to sign with the Lakers for free. fug that.  Give us their next 1st round pick for their bullshit and sit his ass on the bench for his.

He may be only 23 but he's a professional being paid very well. We sent you to a better situation and they got cold feet. If anything he should be a man and be hell bent on making the Lakers look stupid. He should go out against them in a couple weeks and go for 40 and 20. But that pussy just like 99% of the guys on this team has no balls.

I wouldn't trade him next year either. I'd assign him to Greensboro and let him rot for a year. Wouldn't play him a single minute there either. Ride the bus and shut up and take your 6 million dollars.  I'm fed up with all these players we've collected.

Don’t think this is accurate. Saw this posted on threads/IG and people ran with it.

Whats more than likely happening as some Hornets podcasters have pointed out is that the Hornets are disputing the physical not to force the trade but for Williams’ benefit.

The Lakers essentially killed Williams’ next contract so the Hornets are doing Williams a solid and getting an arbitrator to essentially figure out who isn’t telling the truth.

I’m willing to bet Mark will be back after the dust settles. You just don’t buy out solid rookies when they are making penny’s compared to the rest of the NBA.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
