The most frustrating part about the folks crying about 3-4 vs 4-3 is that defenses are in nickel primarily... Really shows who doesn't understand what's going on in front of their own eyes when we hear them cry about going back to a 4-3. 😕

That's why versatile players that are good at multiple positions on the line or in the back field are increasingly sought after. Can the player play with his hand in the dirt and stand up on the edge? Can play on the ball and off the ball? What is his speed from sideline to sideline. That is what teams ask. Not whether he's a 4-3 or a 3-4 player.

No problem.  It really bothers me when I try to research needs by position.  Do I look at DE or OLB?  DE or DT?  etc. I see things through the 4-3 lens as well--I convert 3-4 positions to the role they play in the 4-3.  I think teams are headed to a 4-2-5 anyway--

Silly they don’t establish EDGE as a position. It’s crazy that off ball LBs and EDGE rushers cost the same to franchise tag.

Why can’t Derrick Brown play DT?

I don’t think it’s that he can’t I think it’s that him at end in 34 because a 34 NT needs to be probably 330(Haloti ngata) or under tackle in a 43 allows him to be more disruptive to the offenses. Do idea being Milton or a “true” NT will allow Derrick Brown and the passrushers to be their best

Milton seems like more of a pass rushing threat than Brown imo.

Brown is a monster at 6’5, 320+. I view him as primarily a run stopper and the stats support that. I just don’t understand why we don’t put him at NT and sure up the middle of our DL.

I’d rather have Osa Odighizuwa from the Cowboys. Similar player who wasn’t carried by the elite Eagles D-line. Probably cheaper. Only 1 year older.

I think the Cowboys are going to keep him.

Yes--the 4-2-5, basically as I understand it. I suppose you could also run a 3-3-5 configuration as well, which is rather rare right now.  We are so thin at DB right now, this scares me.  4-2-5_Defense_Diagram.thumb.webp.7cb0e814c8064dd279011079ddda7926.webp

Kind of wild too how we're seeing more 3-3-5 after pulling our hair out when Phil Snow was the DC.

Said it in another thread, but it's a really good offseason for the Panthers to have the holes that they do. I think before DB went down that A'Shawn was the DL being pulled off of the field vs. 11 personnel. Get a better player than Tuttle to leave in next to DB and a guy to rotate in for Wonnum (assuming they're going to be leaning on DJ Johnson to back-up Clowney, for better or worse) and the DL looks much improved.

Eff it, we need a really talented player somewhere on this defense. We got rid of CMC, DJ Moore, and Burns. Gotta use all those cap savings somewhere. Might as well grab a playmaking defensive lineman, everyone always needs more of them.

    • The league would protect him.  The amount of poo Jerry Jones has had exposed and got away with?  The amount of poo Stephen Ross has got away with?  How long Dan Snyder got away with essentially fuging sex trafficking employees and poo???????  Taking down JR was a hit job.  You think the other 31 owners, especially the older ones aren’t blathering, blatant, ignorant ass, bigoted rich racists who have committed far worse things than Blue Jean Fridays?  The ones I named above have DEFINITELY did worse than what JR was accused of.  And do you think guys like Steve Smith would’ve been viewing him as a father figure if they felt that’s who he was?  JR pissed the league off with that last lockout situation and they made him pay.  They lined a new guy up to join their billionaire boys club in Tepper, and they prolly slid a pretty penny to Jonathan Jones to write the “expose,” to get JR out of here.  Again, all the owners I’ve listed above have been verified on record for doing worse poo, yet they’re still running their organizations, unquestioned.  They hand-picked Tepper long before JR was forced out, so he isn’t going anywhere.  Sadly.  fug the NFL.  (Also, to be clear, it’s always fug racism, bigotry, and sexual exploitation - not ever excusing it.  Just making the point that the NFL isn’t operating under this clear standard of justice applied to each and every case)
    • I was still in the throes of a contentious divorce and my job at the time had me work on Sundays.  At the beginning of the season I tried to still work around Sundays so I could see our games.  I think after Bryce came back from the benching, I said fug it.  First time in my life I intentionally didn’t watch our games, even through the Atlanta finale.  In the past, even if we didn’t live up to expectations, I would watch to still support and at least analyze player development, strengths and weaknesses, coaching, etc., but Bryce makes all of that a moot point, so I stopped watching. Again, this is asinine,  it if he is retained (still can’t believe this is even a possibility of a conversation due to how shitty our organization has become under Tepper), I will NOT watch next season until he is gone.
    • Live look at Bryce playing ping pong.
