It is nearly impossible for them to be worse, lol.  I get what you're saying, but we're going to be better next year there.

Carolina pro sports fans should know not to trust anything until contracts are signed. Today was another lesson in that with how many were excited for the former Eagles DT.

Oh, and they could be worse by running it back with the same players from last year and missing on draft picks.Stand-Up Lol GIF by Muppet Wiki

Only 3 pm on the west coast.  Still early.

Yes, but we are an east coast team and the front office guys have probably been wheeling and dealing all day long.  They are probably closing up shop and getting in early tomorrow to get their new slate of FA targets lined up.

Hahaha luckily we didn't run it back with those guys. Plus D Brown is back healthy... So we should be improved a little, at minimum, hahaha

Cuts that could follow and savings:

Shy Tuttle  $3.2  (I think we can get equal productivity out of a day 3 rookie draft pick)

DJ Wonnum $6.2  (I don't see this--I see Wonnum and Jones both playing the strong Edge.  Cuts will be to Johnson and maybe Barno)

Nijman  $3.5  (May wait to see if we draft a T--remember, Cade Mays played T in college)

M. Sanders $6.2  (He has a bonus payout coming up in a few days.  He is GONE.

J. Clowney $7.75  (For an established edge with a little tire tread left, you probably can't cut Clowney)

Barno $1m

DJ Johnson $1m

THat is about all the meat I could pick off the bone.  I am NOT suggesting that we cut them all.  I normally don't get into salaries, but these #s come from OTC.

    • I like it, but really our future hinges on three very important and expensive things we really can't predict right now. 1. Bryce. He either is or isn't going to be the guy. We won't know until this coming season ends. If he puts us in the 10 wins category and continues to improve (that TD-INT ratio is the big tell there), he won't be cheap. But I don't think he's going to be getting anywhere near the bank breaking amounts, unless we see some kind of Drew Brees-type emergence. 2. Can Icky even come back to play? At all. LT, guard or RT. I sure hope he can and I'd love to see him at guard. If he can come back, though, he's looking at vet pay at whatever position. $10 million a year is probably what we're looking at if he has to change position, if he can still play LT then it gets very steep. We might end up looking at letting him hit to open market. 3. Taylor Moton. Love the guy and he's been the picture perfect Right Tackle. The question is will he want to keep doing this? He's getting long in the tooth but he's still a hell of a scrapper out there. If he wants to go and we really want him to stay, well that costs big bucks. While RTs are supposedly easier to replace than LTs, it's still a tough one for us.  And we won't know anything on this until after training camp and then season end. Dan Morgan's got a lot of stuff in the "still to be decided" bin on his desk.
    • In another post, Snow says about three years before you can properly grade a rookie class.  Sounds about right…
    • And this reiterates why I don’t want a Young contract extension. Please let us find another QB.
