Yas report on the Panthers

Dwayne Jarrett. As they’ve been doing for his entire career, the Panthers are hoping the light suddenly comes on for this wide receiver. He’s still running with the first team, but all indications are it’s just not happening for Jarrett. There’s still some work to be done and polish to be added, but the Panthers are starting to think rookie Brandon LaFell is their best option at the starting position opposite Smith. Jarrett basically is fighting for a roster spot at this point. The fact he’s still making mental mistakes this far into his career means there’s a good chance he’s gone before the preseason is over.

Thinks Jarret is gone.

Good write-up, it's funny how every media type who visits our camp walks away with a much better opinion of the Panthers then they had before they came.

I've been there a couple times now, and there's allot of energy - people flying around the field. I think we're gonna be much better than most people expect us to be this year.

Jarrett is a POS never has been, never will be. All hype from the USC bull sh*t media machine. Cut his ass already.

I say this team shocks and goes 10-6

Actually, the hype came from the fact that he caught a bunch of passes and scored a bunch of TD's in football games. He just can't seem to do the same here.

Interesting there was no mention of Kenny Moore.. from all I've heard he's been outstanding in camp..

*ahem* to those who thought he wasn't even going to make a roster spot... looks like Jarrett is the one hanging on..

I have said many times that I hope Moore and LaFell continues to shine in camp and preseason. I am tired of Jarrett's crap.

Smitty and LaFell sounds nice. LaFell is an outstanding blocker and, from what I have read, is looking smooth and good. I really like the throught of Moore as the #3. He provides some speed to compliment Smitty.

    • I tend to look at all of these guys and wonder how committed they are to doing special teams? It's a big deal when you're fighting for roster spots. And we need massive refreshes to all phases of the special teams game. And the idea that four or five of these players could see rotational use outside of special teams would be a win. This team has accumulated quite a bit of dead wood over the last five years and its time to take an axe to some of it. These new fellows have a shot to benefit from that if they can really push. That being said, wow that receivers room is crowded right now. I'm not sure if I was a vet player with more than 2 years experience other than Adam Thielen if I'd be too sure of my future here. Tet is guaranteed a spot, Coker earned his for sure and they aren't done with XL developing yet. That's only two to three spots left for the entire room. It's going to be very competitive and better for Bryce's future, too. Safety and linebacker are the opportunity spots here this season. There's room for the right guy and we may see a starter eventually from one of these UDFAs, either by merit or injury.
    • Aho and Jarvis just gripping it too tight right now. Relax, play their 200 ft game and the shots will start to find the net. Freddie has been excellent and welcome back Mista Svechnikov. Burns.....well, thank goodness for Slavin.
    • Supposedly he plans on staying in college for all 4 years.
