Charlotte Media Wants Clausen To Fail

The Charlotte media is openly rooting for Jimmy Clausen to fail. I don't know whether this is an anti-Notre Dame thing or what, but I'm sick of it. If Jimmy Clausen can play he should be the opening day starter. I don't care how nice a guy Matt Moore is.

Would this be the same Clausen that on things like NFLN, ESPN etal have said the guy is nothing more than the 3rd QB on this roster?

Cut the BS, the guy isn't ready and odds are will never be anything but a backup in this league.

Rookie QBs start when there is no other option. Matt Moore has won NFL games. Matt Moore is 6-2 as a starter and has looked well in the Carolina offense.

The Charlotte media is just applying standard logic that this season has Moore's name written all over it. The Aaron Rogers path is ultiamtely the one I want our future QB to take if that man is not Moore.

The same NFLN and ESPN that also talk about Clausen competing for a starting job toward the end of this season or as late as the beginning of next year? I haven't read anything either where anybody thinks Clausen will not be at least the second option at QB by seasons end. Hate much?

How can Clausen fail when he won't play a snap this year unless Moore and Cantwell get injured and at that point we'd have Vinny Testeverde back on the team.

Or the Panthers get off to a bad start and the playoffs look out of reach, do you think they will not throw Clausen in there to get him some real reps?

Moore gets injured and is going to miss more then two to three weeks, do you think they will not go with Clausen? I understand if he has to miss a quarter or just a game or two they go with Cantwell. But, not for anything other than short term.

Panthers lock down a playoff spot and the offensive line continues to look bad, do you think for the last two or three games that the Panthers don't give Clausen some time in there as well as Cantwell?

Chances this season that Clausen gets some playing time is far better than the chance he gets none at all.

Charlotte media wants to sell newspapers and ad spots. Clausens productivity does not matter. You sir, are mistaken and drinking some serious ND Kool-Aid.

Love the Avatar though...

    • So dumb I get it, they want to expand the reach of the NFL, but it's not the right sport to be playing games halfway around the world for a variety of reasons.   But one of the main ones is what happens if a player has an injury in that game? A lot of times, you're not supposed to fly right after some injuries, so when they happen here it's not a big deal, the player stays in that town for a few days and then flys home separately.  But that opens a whole bag of worms if the game is played all the way out in Australia. Plus just needing that long of a flight to get out there and back, even if they get a bye week after, it means a ton of travel and needing to adjust to a new time zone directly after another game.
    • I don't think it was fear of the unknown because he tried to hide the extent of the injuries that made him drop. After the drop, the reports I heard were that teams knew what was wrong with his knee and it was something similar to another athlete from a few years ago (honestly don't remember if it was even a football player).  That it was basically one of those things where he should be fine for a while, there isn't a huge concern of immediate injury risk.   But what he has going on with his knee is something that is degenerative and there's little chance he'll be able to play more than 5 or so years on it before he won't be able to play anymore. So basically it was teams knowing if they draft him, he's probably going to be only a rookie contract player and even if he's great, you might not be able to get use out of him on a second contract.  Which in turn makes the drop make sense, but I'm kinda surprised some contending team didn't take him late in the 1st, hoping he'd put them over the top on a SB run but then not even have to worry about giving him a big contract in 4 years too.
