Would u count us out???

How many of u feel that if some how someway if Matt Moore has a horrible preseason and Jimmy Clausen won the starting job, would any u guys feel like the season was over....

Personally speaking i think we in the same boat either way with both going into the season. Matt did awesome things at the end of the year, the biggest thing i saw was the fact the coaches called a better game plan for him. They established the run and it worked out. With that said.... Jimmy is a rookie i get that.... but he knows the offense inside and out, ran it well all through out his ND career and he did put of numbers... big numbers... with a weak defense... and the plus side to starting Jimmy is teams havent had all offseason to prepare for him.

Just a thought.

I am counting us out regardless. This is not a playoff team. I am thinking 6-10 at best, sadly.

I agree, you can't just expect a so many rookies and extremely young players to step up and play like vets, some will but most wont and simply can't because they are much too young. They haven't made their mistakes yet. If it were this easy and cheap every team would be doing it. This is different than just a QB change.

I am hoping for a 8-8 record this year and hope a few players really make an impact in their positions so we can get a head start in the building process. To realistically try and see something more than that is surprising but not impossible.

Fortunately the QB position will not be the anchor that drags this year's team down.

When you have this type of young talent behind center, a great running game and a huge offensive line you will always have a chance because risks are going to be taken and competition or the potential for competition will eventually prove who has the goods.

This is going to be a very fun season to watch. Keep your expectations low as fun does not directly translate into wins unfortunately. However, we still do not know where the wins will come from.

I would rather watch a team that busts its ass to grind out 6 wins than a team that slouches on its laurels and repeatedly eeks out 8 any day.

We got a great running game and a better QB throwing to Steve Smith this year. We got a good pass defense and hopefully a couple people step up on the D line. We should have an awesome O line also. I see no reason we can't win 9 games and possibly even make the playoffs this year. Two great RBs behind a great line, one great WR, a QB who is hopefully decent and a defense led by Jon Beason that just needs to make a few plays. We drafted the young guys for a reason over the years, now it's their time to stand out.

    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
    • Best part is if we draft him, we can also use him as our fourth and one QB sneaker
