Interesting email this morning....

Nothing ground breaking, but got an email from an anonymous person inside the front office, same guy that sends me a media guide every year.

Anyways, apparently the cats are indeed watching the waiver wire very carefully for a WR. He says there are a three guys out there that may get practice squaded, and if so, the Panthers are ready to sign to the active roster from their PS.

Anyways, moral of the story, even after our cuts have been made and our own PS is in place, it ain't over. Quite possible to see a new WR on our roster and DJ out of a job.

Take with grain of salt... or not.

Kiss my arse.

Love,

Zod

Zod, I've said several times since the game Saturday how I think WR will break down:

IN:

Smitty, obviously

LaFell

Edwards

Guy

Gettis

Tweeners/Out:

Jarrett

Moore

Martin

Now, I think Guy is more in the Tweener category b/c of the injuries... Now you get this news... How do you think it's gonna break down with the guys we have as of right now?

I'd also like to point out that I find it a bit pathetic that we are waiting to go after a PS guy to sign him to our active roster so he can actually be our 2nd-4th WR...

Guys I would actually be excited about:

Any of the guys from the Bengals - ESPECIALLY - Jerome Simpson, he has looked GREAT everytime I've watched him this preseason and actually against 1st stringers. Also, Shipley, M. Jones, and Caldwell. Any of those guys could help us exponentially.

Several of the lower end guys from Jax:

Tiquan Underwood, Dillard, etc.

Vikings:

M. Mitchell

And again, I don't know why we don't bring Kevin Curtis in for the Vet. Min.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head for now...

I don't want a preseason wonder or young body. If Carolina is going to bring in a guy they need a proven NFL player. One we know can play at the NFL level and learn the system quick.

also one that can work in our 2 WR sets and can get his seperation in that type system.

    • So... what metrics for production do you believe display these issues/limitations best? Are we only using total passing yards, height, and weight thresholds? If so, then what are those thresholds?
    • I mean as far as his size goes it's all over his tape bouncing up and down on his toes in and around the pocket trying to see the field and defenses know this as well as we do but if folks here want to live in never never land and pretend it's not a thing that's their prerogative. Even our head coach has made it a key focal point to get his footwork under control. But it's still something Bryce is going to be tested on early and often no matter how many keystrokes anyone here commits to the narrative it isn't an issue.
    • It speaks volumes that when asked to define a clear performance threshold the responses instead fixate on Bryce's size. It reinforces what’s been clear for a while now... that for some, it has never been nor will it ever be about production. Any struggles will always be chalked up to his frame, and any strong play will be downplayed or disqualified via highly mobile goalposts.
