2021 was a good draft.

I'm hopeful for last years draft....but I'm hopeful every year so...

I tried to be hopeful their rookie season. I saw some good and some bad. The bad was back breaking most of the time.

But mostly what I saw was the FO wasting picks they couldn't afford to waste. They cannot afford a repeat of last years draft. They cannot afford to get cute.

I also will maintain that we will never truly know what kind of GM Fitterer was. For half of his regime he had Matt Rhule with final say and for the other half it seems like david tepper was calling all major shots

Great point.

I agree, by the time Rhule was kicked out- Teddy, Stafford, Darnold, Baker, no telling else. Tepper demanded fittterererererer make that trade up for the top pick for BY. He ruined the plan, but he 100% owns the team.

2021 draft also netted a 2022 4th via titans too(I think).

I say he was dogshit.

Keeping things on track, 2021 was a decent-to-good draft. The ones immediately preceding it and every one after it were ass, so that also inflates it a bit.

Just no matter how you do(within reason), if you get 2 top level starters and 1 top backup/STer. It's a good draft.

Anyone that disagrees, pick a team that you hold in high draft regard. And look at the draft history, what I said remains true. There are course changing drafts, were you hit on 6 out of the eight picks and your team changes for the good. Seahawks, saints, rams have had them and the effects last years...

Im still waiting for the Panthers to have a draft that changes the team for the good. We've had a few that changes it temporarily but it's few and far between.

They never had one, that just shows how hard they come by.

This one is close just not the total kockout, but elite talent is there.

Round (Pick No.) Name College Years with Carolina
1 (11) LB Dan Morgan Miami (Fla.) 2001-07
2 (44) DT Kris Jenkins Maryland 2001-07
3 (74) WR Steve Smith Utah 2001-13
4 (106) QB Chris Weinke Florida State 2001-06
5 (143) S Jarrod Cooper Kansas State 2001-04
6 (175) RB Dee Brown Syracuse 2001-02
7 (211) C Louis Williams LSU 2001-02
7 (227) TE Mike Roberg Idaho

Weinke was a OK backup and Cooper was a ST demon. Just need a couple more to at least make the team for years. Still ranked great and best Id say in Panthers history.

If they could have put together several successive drafts like that we would have had back to back winning seasons already. They need to figure out how to draft better every draft if they ever want to build a winning team.

Round 1, pick 8 - Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina

Round 2, pick 59 (from CLE) - Terrace Marshall Jr., WR, LSU

Round 3, pick 70 (from PHI) - Brady Christensen, OT, BYU

Round 3, pick 83rd Tommy Tremble, TE, Notre Dame

Round 4: No. 126 (from TEN) - Chuba Hubbard, RB, Oklahoma State

Round 5: No. 158 (from From NE through HOU) - Daviyon Nixon, DT, Iowa

Round 5: No. 166 (from TEN) - Keith Taylor, CB, Washington

Round 6, pick 193 - Deonte Brown, OG, Alabama

Round 6, pick 204 (from CHI) - Shi Smith, WR, South Carolina

Round 6, pick 222 - Thomas Fletcher, LS, Alabama

Round 7: No. 232 - Phil Hoskins, DT, Kentucky

Facts are if you get 2 quality starters- Horn and Hubbard.

And one top backup/STer- Tommy Tremble

*Bonus - Brady Christensen

That's a good draft.

You get four legit NFL players from any draft its a good draft. Plus those four resigned with the team making it a rare feat as well.

Sorry it does not fit the hate on fittteererererererer narrative...

That's the goal each year.

It isn't a narrative.  Scott was an abysmal gm and 99% of this board would have done a better job than that candy ass.

    • Moved to Tuesday, not Wednes because of scheduling with Flyers game or something in Philly. But I don't feel good about the Heat.  It has been a great season regardless.  Team just been playing so hard to move up since a bad start and just picked a bad time to get gassed.  It's like almost everyone is shooting cold at the same time even wide open shots.   Maybe atmosphere and playoffs kick off a spark.  I'd rather be in a series than a one and done though. The team has a good foundation to build on regardless of what happens.
    • Dan's been talking about upgrading CB since beginning of free agency
    • I'm more of a Hornets fan than I am a Panthers fan, I've watched a ton of this franchise the last 20 years. I post all day on RealGM. Don't get your hopes up, this is setting us up for a 20 point loss to the Heat and a swift end to the season. Spoelstra has always solved us, the Heat have two bigs that we have no answers for, and Jaquez is a certified Hornets killer that always plays us like he has a grudge on us. The Hornets being a top 10 team all year and a top 5 team the last half of the year and then flat out missing the playoffs is incredibly on brand for this crappy, horrendous franchise. I would love to be proven wrong. But I've suffered enough to know this little scheme the team is pulling. We finished 2 games out of 6th and guaranteed playoffs, and we blew two games to the Pacers and Nets earlier in the season, when they weren't trying to win. It's just who we are, Hornets DNA
