Most important 4th preseason game in memory....

For the life of me I can't remember a more interesting or important 4th preseason game for the Panthers. Typically the cuts are already decided before the game, but I don't think so this year. Espescially at WR, I think a great performance tonight could take an individual off the cut list and back on the keep list.

If the WR's are dogging it tonight like last week, they all should be cut. It could not be more clear that they should be showing their best out there.

Well spoken. I see some intense competition at CB as well. CJ Wilson, McClain, Witherspoon, Stanford. Don't know why we'd keep 5 (suggested by Gantt) since Pugh can play CB as well. If not, we might see McClain step into the 4th CB role.

Back to WR: I don't know how you evaluate Charly Martin in comparison to those who have had the entire camp to show progress, but regardless of what happens tonight, I expect a lot of 2-TE sets with Barnidge and Rosario for a while.

It is going to be a big game and a make or break one for a number of players. I know that's a cliche that every sportscaster trots out, but it really has the feel of it this time. Tonight's show is pretty much the WR corps, special teams and the right side of our O-line.

Whoever remains among the WRs after tonight should see a better chance to be open and catch some balls as Smitty comes back for the regular season. They just can't afford to think that way tonight. We need someone to realize that this is their shot at stardom and really push themselves to the next level.

Fox is praying deep down that his starters score an offensive touchdown so he can declare mission accomplished and pull them out. Otherwise, I expect them in there longer than most other teams.

I don't know, isn't Dallas talking about keeping their starters in the whole first half?

They suck worse than we do yet most the power rankings have them in the top 5???

"Beast of the East"

LMAO...they suck!!!

P.S. Hope my better half doesn't read this

On topic, I think you're right Zod, time for someone to step up!

The important thing is, are the WRs awful because of their lack of talent/skill/motivation/etc. or is it QB play as well? I think Moore should stick around for at least the 1st quarter, maybe even till half. If he can't sustain one drive for a TD then Clausen deserves time to see what he can do with the same WRs and Oline

    • Yeah they were bad QBs - but QB's that stayed on their teams for several years.  BY is better than all of those.
    • This is the right move even if you think Bryce isn't the future. Everything except signing him to a long term deal until proven otherwise. There's a decent chance we have a shot to draft a QB next year that we like.
    • If we're still bad enough that Canales gets fired, especially if it's during the season, there is no way we could ever attract any HC worthy of the job if we told them they had to keep Bryce their first year. That would be 2 coaches he's gotten fired and 4 years of not performing up to par. I still say replace both of them next offseason.  I like Canales the man and I think he's done an absolutely outstanding job at fixing our locker room issues, as it was really bad before he showed up.  But I just don't see it from him with his in game decision making, I think he's held us back just as much as Bryce has, just in different ways. Canales was our Dan Campbell, the coach you hire to turn the franchises culture around for the HC after them to inherit and take to the next level.   The difference was he had some elite coordinators early on and really let him focus on his "leader of men" role as opposed to the X's and O's that Canales does himself and it's turned out well for him.
