Deangelo Williams is the best player out of the 06 draft.

If you mean Mario over him in general, then I agree. If you mean this year, then I don't agree. I think we are ok with defensive ends, but we definitely need as many offensive weapons as we can get.

Yes, in general.

As it currently stands, if we were offered a straight up trade, no I would not take it.

Mario is the best player out of that entire draft.

He is ranked no less than 4th at his position in the entire NFL, at argueably the 2nd or 3rd hardest position.

D Will is very good, almost great for us, but Mario is the player I would pick 9 out of 10 times.

Jones-Drew is better than Williams.

Jones Drew has played in 63 games to Williams' 59.

Jones-Drew has 842 carries, Williams has 754 carries.

3924 yards to 3850 yards rushing.

49 TDs to 30 rushing.

Rushes for first down %:

22% 24% 28% 28% for Jones-Drew

24% 24% 19% 25% for Williams

201 catches to 107.

1782 receiving yards to 861.

5 TDs to 4.

Catches for first downs

81 to 38

Williams also has 45 kick returns for 845 yards and 0 TDs. Average of 19 yards a return.

Jones-Drew has 79 for 2054 and 2 TDs. Average of 26 yards per return.

Jones Drew has also return punts but I can't compare because Williams has not.

In terms of fumbling, Jones-Drew has lost 6 fumbles for his career. Williams has lost 4. Besides two more lost fumbles I see no reason why people can say Williams is better than Jones-Drew. Jones-Drew split carries with Fred Taylor until last season. Garrard at his best was never as good as Jake at his best.

The Jaguars have no offensive line where the Panthers have one of the better ones. Our best WR is a number 2 in Sims-Walker on most other teams, not even close to the talent of Smith on the Panthers.

So Drew has done more with less around him. Also, Drew is widely considered one of the best blocking, if not the best blocking running back in all of football.

So because MJD's team consistently sucks, and isnt smart enough to get any viable weapons around him, that makes him better?

Nah.

Don't think so.

No, he is better because if you watch the two of them and compare all around game, Jones-Drew is better. MJD is really the only offensive weapon you have to gameplan for on the Jaguars, but he still puts up elite numbers. He catches better than Williams, blocks better than Williams, participates in all aspects of the return game, and is still an elite back. How many backs have more touchdowns than Jones-Drew since he came into the league? As an offensive player, your job is to put the ball into the endzone.

Stewart and Williams have 55 combines touchdowns between the two of them. Jones-Drew has 56.

Jones-Drew's offensive line was good enough in 2007 for Fred Taylor to run for 1202 yards at 5.4 yards per carry and in 2006 he ran for 1146 yards at 5.0 per carry. You can't conceivably argue that the Jags O-line during that time period was worse than the Panthers.
