Is Jon Gruden the best fit?

Gruden is good for one year to take a transitional team, coach them well and instill some discipline. After that first year though he will become an idiot and attempt to buy up every over 32 veteran that is "one of his guys". Thereby setting a franchise back by decades (i.e. Tampa Bay, Oakland).

Only if he has a puppet GM like he did in Tampa. I think Gruden would make a good HC given a good GM that can handle the personel for him.

Things that are never a good idea if you run a professional football team:

#1- Fire your HC that is bad at making adjustments, doesn't do well coming up with an offensive game plan, chews too much bubblegum for excercise, can not win year to year consistently, and is living off an achievement from over 6 years ago. Then turn around and hire the guy that could never beat the HC you just fired and is living off an achievement that happened almost 10 years ago.

    • I don't dislike the kid.  When you see a belligerent child, you know some half baked parent is enabling them, laughing at how cute their kid is while everyone else sees the truth. It's the coaching, front office and ownership that has created this dynamic, Bryce is just following the role they laid out for him.
    • Though Charlotte is a strong market, we have small town media type people.  They either fly the Black and Blue flag or avoid asking challenging questions so they can stay on the good side of Panthers brass and players.   It's similar to all other media.  They have a narrative (left wing or right wing) and every story has to fit into it.  We are still in the "super processor" / nice young man stage.  It's a bit frustrating when we recall that Cam got his share of flack and rarely for poor performance, mostly because he refused to fit in the media's neat little box.  Bryce stays inside the behavior box so they let his atrocious play move to the back burner.
    • Tepper has been a bad owner but fans run wild with his takes.  He wanted Evero and I think he pushed for Brown to be Reich's OC, the post just mentioned moving on from Cam to Teddy and he apparently really wanted Bryce.  He also was one of the few owners willing to sign Eric Reid during all the kneeling for the anthem issues.  I have not got the racist vibe from him at all.  I think he wants to win to a fault where was steps in a makes decisions that his staff should be making, but that too appears to have settled down this past year.  Also for people still crying about not hiring Wilks, I think he is on his third or fourth job since leaving here.  A great people, great secondary coach, and a decent DC but I just don't think he was a good HC.
