People would get critical of Jerry Jones because his entire life has been about going outlandishly over the top. I'm pretty sure that dude gets drunk every night, calls NASA, and tries to buy the moon. It would be like Lady Gaga dressing normally and hosting a seminar for refined ladies and gentlemen.

i bet the understanding among owners is that they just let whoever wanted to go and make this statement do it because it hurts their chances of putting a winning product on the field a great deal. Also, if it catches on with a number of teams (which it didn't) it's a long way to giving the owners leverage in this whole deal. A win-win for guys like Jones, Tisch/Mara, Bisciotti, Irsay, Kraft, and Rooney. Richardson basically jumped on the grenade for everybody else, and the Panthers fans are just collateral damage. If fans wanted to defect because of this gesture, i don't blame them.

I agree with those that are more concerned about the defense than the offense. I remember Everette Brown was quoted after the Giants game saying basically, and I'm paraphrasing, "The Giants did some things we weren't expecting, but this week you'll see us playing for real, were bringing the heat." They didn't do poo against the Bucs. If the defense could do it's job, the offense may be able to play the game they're designed to play rather than having to spread out.
