Did Jake at least give you hope?

I think Walls was cut and was quite angry about it. I thought he went with Denver for a year but didn't play much there so maybe he had lingering injuries.

I was much more emotionally invested when Jake was with us. Exciting it definitely was. I would wake up game day morning feeling like I knew how the team would play, what chance we had to win that day. There's none of that now but we haven't won yet either.

He went to Greenbay and played another year.

I know I'm late getting in the conversation... but... Jake did give hope, but that stopped in the playoff game against the Cardinals. every game after that Jake only inspired fear and anxiety

I loved Jake but I am glad he is gone

you have to learn to move on... you are probably the kind of guy still wearing his pee-wee league jersey... because you dont know how to let go

With Delhomme, no matter how bad we were losing I always felt that he was going to get into a gunsling and pull it out in the 4th, I never lost hope even though towards the end he would disappoint more than come through. Under the new era, the moment we are down I am pretty much convinced that Moore/Clausen do not have the intangibles to get it done and pull it out

Don't you think it would be fair to give Clausen a chance before saying that?

Matt Moore will get his chance again.
man i hope not. i hope that jimmy is everything we have been hoping for in a QB. i'm tired of bouncing around and hoping that some day we could have a big time QB. jimmy has much more of a chance being that than moore. he's got the job right now. he's our best hope at the moment.

absolutely. dude hasn't played even a full quarter yet. let him have a few games before you say he isn't capable of bringing this team back or doing good things here.

He went to Greenbay and played another year.

He was here through 2002 but spend half of 2000 on injured reserve. He came back in 2001 to make the pro-bowl again but wasn't 100%. In 2002 he played most of the year but only made 19 catches for 241 yards and still was a shadow of his former self. He did go to Green Bay as a backup to Bubba Franks but really should have shut it down in 2002, he never did much after his injury. His last pro bowl year here in 2001 he really won on popularity rather than production. He was 7th in catches among tight ends.

But Matt Moore was 6-2 as a starter!!

2003-2006 or so, I felt that way about Jake. After that though, I gave up. Jake still made some good plays after that, but there were very few comebacks after 2005 NFC championship game.

Jake has some pretty impressive comeback drives and plays in the 12-4 2008 season.

San Diego, Green Bay, New Orleans, etc..

Don't know why people keep forgetting that.

Jake did always give me hope. He and Beuerlien were the only Panthers quarterbacks that felt the like "our guy" instead of a steady stream of replacements and he led the team to victories and rallied the guys around him for some great comebacks. I was one of those that wasn't in a huge rush to bench him last year. I thought that he would shake off what ever was wrong with him and bring back the old Jake but then I realized that there was nothing to shake off, its just who he became.

I hope that Jimmy becomes the QB of the future and is the guy we talk about for years and years to comes because we need someone like that.

I understand your feelings. I, too, was a Jake fan ... until he began averaging 7 turnovers a game.

Face it, Jake was always a reckless slinger of the ball and only Wesley Walls's, Smith's and Moose's talent saved him. But after Jake's arm got hurt, he was done. Both the Big Cat and Foxxy gave him the chance to come back but he did not have the physical talent anymore.

Cleveland made a bad decision - my guess is that he will never be any good for any NFL team again ... sad but we have to face the truth.

As for Panthers, expect for Clausen to make some 'rookie' mistakes, but he is a savvy guy and will learn from them and, if we have patience, we will be glad we got him.

Considering he was gone before Jake ever got here.... how?

Edit: Oh, I see that's already been beaten to death. My bad.
