Is it time to break up Panthers, trade Smith?

we are already the youngest team in the league, trading smitty for a draft pick? What are we going to use it on? A wide receiver?

Not a good idea. Smitty is a competitor and wants to win, wants to be apart of the win.

Get the other players to step up and take the double team off smitty that is what needs to happen. Not trading him

dt, ol

Well after watching Sunday's game...we need help at many positions.

If the compensation is right, ANYTHING is possible in any franchise. No one is irreplaceable. And if ever the compensation could be ridiculously high, it would be this uncapped season.

BUT, in any reasonable hypothetical.....

Another team would have to literally knock on our door with the right offer in hand. Ther could be no public showcasing about it. It seems extremely unlikely to me that our unpretentious franchise would risk the disruption of shopping Steve Smith. He's already irritated enough at the situation as it is, and we all know what he can do when he hits the breaking point. LOL

It seems more constructive to bring in a complimentary veteran receiver under a one year contract, but that's not what veterans are after under these circumstances.....

The season is not over, and there are no emergencies. You can expect the FO to sound even less urgent than I do.

Bolden did get traded. :D But Smitty is 31 he has 2 good years left. People always complain when we let players go and dont get anything for them. Well this would be our chance.

Yea after he had success and really has declined IMO. We would not get close to what Smith brings to this team. Its not Madden where we trade away a start then just turn around and draft another. Draft picks are crapshoots.

So let me get this straight...trade the franchise leader in pretty much every WR category for potentially a 2nd or 3rd round pick which the FO will use on somebody like Armanti Edwards or Dwayne Jarrett??? Hell to the NO.

Nope I said first round picks. If there is a team out there that is jsut a wide receiver away from contending I think they would give us first round picks.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
    • Well I guess he should stop playing football. This was his defining moment and chance to prove he was generational and he failed. What a waste of football life..
