Was at the game yesterday, noticed a change taking place

I was at the game yesterday (section 516) and I noticed more hostility towards the visiting team's fans than any other Panthers game I've ever attended.

Personally, I like it. I'm not advocating violence or anything like that - but we should not make visiting fans feel welcome.

eh, I disagree. Some good natured smack talk is all fine and good....but I am not a fan of trying to ruin an experience for someone else.

We should discourage opposing fans from just buying up tickets to the game though. It's bad enough so many people around here don't pull for the Panthers.

Where were y'all last night when I was getting blasted for my "12th Man" post? :D

Only thing about discouraging opponents buying tickets is then the stadium will only be 1/4 full instead of 1/2 full. And it would be near empty by the 4th quarter. The money still goes to the franchise. If we don't have it how could we get "quality" people like "Batuka" (never could spell his name.) Collins, Hennings? Nor could we give people like Delhome crap loads of money before letting them go.

:banghead:

I do not advocate being rude, mean, yelling at other teams fans, etc at Panther stadium...... BUT sadly the same is not said for their behavior in our stadium. Game in and game out they DO ruin my experience at the stadium. It seams like most of the fans from the opposing team treat that stadium as if the Panthers are the road team and I am a visition fan. They are the ones how are usually loud, rude, obnoxious, yelling crap, carrying on etc. Its not their house. There is nothing more annoying sitting in the stadium around a bunch of other teams fans who are carrying on when good poo is happening with their team or bad stuff happens to the Panthers. (which sadly has been happening alot these past season :( )

Only the team can change this.

Agreed, and most of what I was referring to fell under the category of good natured smack talking - but there was much more of it going on then I had ever seen before.

I'm all for not letting opposing fans feel welcome in our stadium. I will scream at them like Ric Flair, when the Panthers do good. My favorite saying to them is "Have fun on your drive back! Wooooo!" Everything short of physical violence is fine...unless they assault me. Then we will be tumbling down the stands in that case.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
