i dunno. it depends on which way you tilt your head but it's there i guess.

It makes sense IF JR really believes there will be a lockout and a wasted season next year. Think about it, after this season Smith only has two years left. If next season is lost (or really cut short), he will enter the final year of his contract with diminished skills and the highest cap (and cash) hit. His trade value is already past its peak. Buisness wise, it makes sense.

Plus, how many times have we heard in any professional sport about an aging superstar who doesn't want to go through a rebuilding process when there are other teams closer to a championship. Smith may be asking for this.
