Anybody catch Marty H. on 1110 after the game?

i think we'll be active this year in free agency. i doubt we go crazy, but who knows. the only good thing out of this year has been playing time seen by the rookies and second year guys. it just sucks we had to sacrifice being good for this to happen.

Unless he's okay with becoming the Rams, Lions, etc., JR has no choice but to spend this off-season. Even if it fails, and people complain we spent too much money (which they will), he has no option but to put the best possible team out there that he can.

But if he's fine with screwing up what was once an above-average franchise and letting it rot for a few more years...then you'll see what you normally have here: a few FA pick-ups and a solid draft.

If he means business, he'll do something we've never seen here before: he'll go all out. Because as good as you all may think our core is, building through the draft and "sticking with the program" is not the answer right now. Thankfully we'll have a new coach here. Hopefully he can shed that light on to JR.

Four winning seasons in 16 years. I repeat, four winning seasons in 16 years. SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE.

Spending on high priced FA's rarely works out for any franchise. It may seem like the cool thing to do but it's not the way to build a franchise and that's not what we'll do. We will draft BPA's and pick up mid level FA's to fill our needs, as we should. Also, Clausen has been sucking but drafting him was a good move at the time. All indications at that point were that he was the most Pro-ready QB in the draft. Obviously it didn't work out that way but drafting him where we did was a no-brainer.

Maybe I'm the only one who really listened closely to the interview. After almost a decade of hearing Hurney, I have learned that he will leave slight hints every now then about what he is really thinking if you just look past the regurgitated stuff.

When asked about trying to keep D-Will, he said they would absolutely make every effort because he was part of the core and they will always try to keep the core. That set him up for the next question which caused him to stumble through a little. Did he consider Clausen part of the core? He never said yes, instead just talking about how Clausen can be a really good NFL QB, but the more he talked the bigger hole he dug. He started talking about how there are areas of the team that needed improvement. Then he moved on to how important the QB position is in the modern NFL. Then moved on to how important a good passing QB is in the league because it is a passing league. Then moved on to the other teams in the division and how they are good because of the QB's skills and leadership they supply.

Then when he was finished with all that hashing he was asked again if Clausen was a core and his answer told loads. He said that Carolina must have a QB like Brees or Ryan or someone else with good skills to compete in the divison. Whether that future be built around Clause or.....(quick pause) someone else.

Yeah, if anyone thinks Hurney is seriously including Clausen in his "we will develop our young players" philosophy, don't worry. Clausen is not on his radar much.

I hope we are... because even if we get the #1 and get a "franchise" QB, if we don't fix the O-line and the WR corps, we still won't do crap.

I think the only free agent we pick up is a vet QB and maybe a vet wide out. Wide out might be a stretch though. Panthers rarely go to free agency and that isn't exactly a bad thing. Free agency doesn't always work out.

If you think JR is going on a buying frenzy in the off season you will be upset.

Yeah, I'm familiar with Hurney's ways, lol... I felt like I was listening to him as I was reading it.

I said something similar regarding Fox's answer recently about whether he believes in Clausen or something like that. It wasn't a vote of confidence at all.

It's clear they know he's not a franchise guy, actually far from it. And to see/hear that now, compared to how they felt draft day, you know they see what most of us have been seeing.

LOLing @ the "passing QB" comment. What else are they supposed to do? Translation: "Jimmy isn't a QB."

Good to hear about DWill though.

This coming from the guy who, about 8 months ago, offered our first rounder this year to move up to get Clausen. If he did and we gave NE the 33rd pick for Edwards and St Louis the first pick in the 2011 draft for Clausen, Hurney would have to apply for FBI round the clock protection.

I understand that spending in FA is a gamble. But when you've had four winning seasons in 16 years, it means you're not doing something right. We need to change something, somewhere. That doesn't have to mean bringing in a few top names on O-Line and the D-Line, but damn...if we continue to do things the "Panther Way", nothing will ever change here. I hope the new coach can stand up for what he wants and isn't a Yes Man.

True, but it isn't just Hurney who thought Clausen would go in the 1st round... lots of smart people thought Clausen had the right stuff to be a franchise QB.

That's the draft for you, it's a gamble and there's no bigger gamble then drafting a QB.

Die meisten Schüler wissen nicht, wo sie anfangen sollen, wenn es um diese Innovation geht. Das ist leider ein Misserfolg. Wie wichtig ist das? Genau das ist es, was nicht zu Ihrer Mission gehört. Ich bin gespannt, was Amigos in diesem Zusammenhang vermuten.   FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/venisellereviews/ https://www.facebook.com/smartfocusglasses/ https://www.facebook.com/yummyslimreviews/ https://www.facebook.com/veeloboostercost/ https://www.facebook.com/motionenergygermany/ https://www.facebook.com/activestinreviews/ https://www.facebook.com/matchaslimpills/ https://www.facebook.com/magicoagermany/ Site Google: https://sites.google.com/view/activestinreviews/ https://sites.google.com/view/matcha-slim-pills/ https://sites.google.com/view/magicoareviews/ https://ketrionselee.company.site/
    • Am I reading this right? We've had awful QB play for over half a decade...and we'd pass on Dak because he has no "clutch gene" or can't get it done in the playoffs--something we haven't sniffed and have no reason to believe we will for years to come?!? Sorry, but this sounds like a starving man turning down a box of crackers because they're Great Value instead of Ritz. If a Great Value QB is available when you have none, there is no deliberation needed.
