Moore wants to stay a Panther

It's been a season filled with uncertainty for Panthers quarterback Matt Moore, and it could be an offseason of uncertainty as well.

One thing, however, is for certain: Moore would like to be a Panther next season.

"Absolutely. There's no doubt about that," Moore said. "That would be the No. 1 goal.

"If it's up to me, I'd be here. This is my home now. The people here have been great to me football-wise. In this building, everything has been great. I've had good experiences here."

Moore, who is eligible to become a free agent after the season, made his first public comments Wednesday since season-ending shoulder surgery nearly a month ago. Moore said he's recovering slowly but steadily from the torn labrum in his right shoulder that he suffered Nov. 7 against New Orleans.

"I feel great," Moore said, adding that he hopes to be able to start throwing in March. "My range of motion is good. We're just working slowly on getting some strength back. I'm taking it slow, day by day, but it's getting better."

Moore opened the season as the Panthers' starting quarterback but struggled, getting intercepted three times in the end zone in a season-opening loss at the New York Giants.

His struggles continued the next week, prompting the Panthers to turn to rookie Jimmy Clausen as their Week 3 starter. Clausen started the next three games before head coach John Fox turned back to Moore, who responded to the second chance by leading Carolina to its lone victory, 23-20 over the San Francisco 49ers.

This is my home now. The people here have been great to me football-wise. In this building, everything has been great. I've had good experiences here

Wow, talk about toting the company line. I like the guy, so don't get me wrong, but when exactly have they been great to you? When the coaches benched you in favor of a craptastic rookie? Or when the fans who are clueless booed you, Matt?

At this point, bring him back for at least TC, let him, Luck, Vet, and Pickles battle it out, and see who wins. Nothing wrong with that.

Moore has played before this season. He had 2 bad games and we gave up on him. Matt Cassell had 2 bad games to start the season and look how his season has been like. Honestly I blame John Fox for being too stubborn to give Moore another chance. I mean seriously two bad games and we bench him for a horrible rookie, just another reason for Fox to be fired.

I also think Matt Moore is good enough to win us games. We could pass on Luck and get a much needed DT to help the defense.

I kinda hope Moore does come back, to be honest. Even though I did want Clausen to play(and I was wrong about Clausen, painfully so), I like Moore a lot, but...

I just don't know if I see it. It may be better for his career to go some place new, too. I mean, either way, he is unlikely to be a long term starter here with us either going to end up with Luck or end up with Clausen playing well enough to keep us from Luck (LOL like THAT will happen)

      yeah, I can get a little of that.  But that's not what he is posting in his argument just now though.   He said people wouldn't even concede to the literal ability to do it when pressed on the literal ability.  I have never seen that.  He maintains it exists somewhere.  I mean, using anomaly games to make arguments about players just isn't the way.   There wasn't a defender within 10 yards of our guys on 2 of those 3 throws Sunday.  No one within 5 on the 3rd.   That's not Bryce Young answering questions about his play downfield..  That's Bryce Young taking advantage of coverage busts by a bad D.  Which hey, that's part of the game too.  Recognition and seeing the field.   It can't totally be dismissed.   That's still good play.  You want your QBs to make those plays.  But it's not getting into the long standing critique of BY IMO.

      Deserved, I wouldn’t use that word. Asked for? For sure. Am I upset over it? No.  People forget that AT was throwing his helmet in frustration last season over his QB’s ineptitude. The same QB was pretty inept to start this year, no guarantee AT would have helped him in those games any more than he did last year.  Just sayin.  And Dan doing him a solid probably did not go unnoticed by players around the league. I think it increases his rep with potential FAs. It sure can’t hurt it.

      You think that was the fault of the guy that was lighting it up or maybe the bums around him? Funnily enough, those bums are still being bums in his absence. Who would have thought!
