As a non-NC native, I became a Panthers fan just because I happened to be dating someone from NC when they went to the Super Bowl and they got me into it. But I've stayed a fan since then because of the kind of team they are. They're underdogs. They don't get a lot of attention from anyone. They aren't thugs, or media whores, they have a blue collar mentality that, even though it can get boring from a fan perspective, is more respectable on a character level. Out of the local teams I have to chose from; the Ravens are thugs, and the Redskins are always a mess. The Panthers are loaded up with talent, and half of them are too shy to give an interview. I like that.

Also since I really only started following football about 5 years ago, the Panthers are easier because there isn't 70 years worth of crap to learn :D

Something I like about the Panthers is the way they are presented in the league.

The team isn't flashy or well publicized like the Cowboys, and they rarely get any notice by the media, but that's cool cause the Panthers have alway sbeen the blue collar hard working team.

Born and raised in charlotte, first love was the charlotte hornets(now n.o. hornets, since ur not a sports fan) then came along the panthers followed them from the beginning pretty closely and then became absolute diehard and focused all my fandom on them when i heard the hornets were leaving... most people i know that are fans, diehard anyway have been watching the panthers since they were teens or younger....which also makes most of them younger than 30

Raised in the Carolinas.

I was born in Los Angelas and went to college outside Philly and then again in Arkansas (way too close to cowboy territory for my liking).

The Carolinas has always been where I called home and I was excited that we were getting a team of our very own.

I'm as proud of the panthers as I am to be here in North Carolina. It's home and they are my home team.

I make it a point to go to Training Camp every year for a good few days to watch them get ready for the season. During the season I eat Bojangles chicken and dirty rice and their sweet tea before each game. I usually need to take 2 Excedrin around half time of every game because the Panthers give me a headache.

They frustrate me beyond belief but there isn't anything that they could do short of moving away (like those loser hornets did) that would make me think any less of them.

It has been a rocky road but we have done a good job getting players here that are active in the community and are, for the most part, really high character guys. There usually isn't near the drama here that there are with other teams. Even though there are situations that could easily be made into big deals, the team gets control of the situations and rises above it.

haha manchester united... im surprised it got that close! haha

i cheer for them because they are the local team here. i have loyalties to them an the redskins. i was born near D.C. but moved to charlotte when i was young, my dad bought his PSL's when the team played in clemson, i was only 6 but i member goin to all the games... i am a hardcore panthers fan, but i am sad to say there are very few of us... most people are bandwagan fans here, i hate the those fans soooo much. it just pissses me off so bad when your at a panther game an 1st of all people dont show till halfway thru the 1st quarter then in the 4th quarter if your winning by more than 10 an its wrapped up people leave early! why???? where winning, i hate it but whatever, thats why i still cheer for the skins, all the fans are loyal thru thick and thin.

    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
    • I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
