Correct me if I am wrong...

This is funny to me.

The NFL is all about money, they will not be going back to the old grind it out games, they are not fun enough to watch to the fairweather fan.

I wonder how many people enjoyed the Bears vs Jets game this week?

We will take the QB if he comes out.

Not sure yet. I am waiting to see who our new HC is before I decide.

I think JR hires another defensive minded run out the clock coach. If so, trade down for Fairley, pick up a second rounder and pick up best available WR. I am not so certain Moore or Clausen are not good enough to be game managers.

You motor-boatin' sonofabitch, you old sailor you!!

Every member of this esteemed forum should clear their calendar on the night of January 3rd, because you have an important assignment as previously mentioned. We must watch the orange bowl, take off the Cardinal red-colored glasses, and try to evaluate this kid's game against a legit college defense on a neutral field in a big-game environment.

Then, there should be lots of healthy debate starting that night and the morning of January 4th. No excuses, all must watch! You too, Martin Hurney.

Even if Luck tears it up against VT, what does that prove? This is the same team that gave up 21 to James Madison earlier this year.

In any case, regardless if you consider Luck God, very good, pretty good or just good, he needs to be the pick. This isn't a "game manager" league anymore. Look at the QBs in the playoffs: Brady, Roethlisberger, Cassel, Manning, Flacco, Sanchez, Ryan, Cutler, Vick, Bradford, Brees, Rodgers. With the exception of Sanchez and maybe Flacco, all of those guys are pretty damn good. In fact, the only QBs missing from this list that enter into the discussion are Rivers and Schaub. But they've got non-existent defenses.

For the record I have not gone Lady Gaga over Luck. Or Newton. It's a roll of the dice with every pick.

Cutler is the only qb in the last couple of years that fits the profile of going against top notch D's with SEC.

Flacco and Big Ben played D1AA and mid major football and both have been to the playoffs multiple times. Two SB's for Big Ben. Sure having a great D helps but the qb's have played well.

Matt Ryan has played in the ACC. A casual look at the ACC and you want to puke, but the ACC has produced very good NFL defenders the last few years.

I have no issues with Luck or Newton and so far, no hint of red flags for me. The Panthers have what appears to be one of the more safter #1 overall picks coming up. For the record, I totally didn't think Alex Smith was the overall top pick when he came out either.

Well, his college coach said that he was the best QB he has ever seen. What greater endorsement of a player do you need?

Especially because the college coaches for guys like Leaf and Russell were practically begging teams not to pick thier busted ass players.

But Luck faced a top 20 defense once this season.

He was 29 of 46, 241 yards, 2 scores, 2 picks.

Not saying the kid is not a legit NFL QB, but seriously, most of you are completely delusional with how much you are building him up.

Well played Zod....posting more controversial statements to generate more traffic on the board.

You are a Capitalist Pig at heart....and I respect that.

Armanti Edwards was 17/23 for 227yds and 3td's passing and rushed for 62 yards and another td against then #5 Michigan in 2007 and the general consensus is that he is not an NFL caliber quarterback.

What does this mean? That looking at individual game statistics as a barometer for success is foolish and is just a shallow way to justify a fake argument.

Aside from character and mechanics issues you mean?

    • NEVER FORGET!!!!   Canales was on no one's radar. Tepper couldn't get anyone to come here. He was all in on Ben Johnson. Nobody wants to work with Tepper, however Canales tenure may prove important for the next guy. This guy still has no idea what he's doing.
    • The 4th down play was poor execution by Chuba. He didn't want to get physical like Rico and cut North South to lean on his blocks from Tremble and Ekwonu for half a yard. Also, the 3rd down play before that Bryce audibled out to a QB run and almost got the 1st down was on Chuba for not knowing the play call leading to poor execution. You can see Chuba's confusion when Bryce had to realign him. Then Chuba thought he was getting the handoff and was slow to develop his double team on the DE with Tremble. Then Chuba hesitated on pushing the block and just ran to the sideline making Bryce have to loop around him. This pulled the DE away from Tremble forcing Chuba to chip on the DE late and leaving the safety as a free defender. Chuba was suppose to double down on the DE to let Tremble peel off to the safety. This allows Bryce to set up his run to the inside or outside after the safety commits. You can also see Tremble walk over to talk to Chuba after the play and Chuba shrugs which tells me he didn't know what to do. The audible would have worked on 3rd and the dive would have worked on 4th. The plays were good calls and drawn up well. The question is why was Chuba unprepared for those plays in two critical back to back plays? I like Chuba as a 1st down RB and passing downs, but I have always seen him lacking the power and vision to be a short yardage power back. Chuba didn't come prepared for the Saints game or he was thrown into a position at the 3 spot that he was never prepared for.
    • Yeah man, that was a catch. I like to imagine the game isn’t rigged but it’s well known sports betting is ruining the sport. Unfortunately, most coaches plan for 3 phases of the game. But there is really 4, offense, defense, special teams, and special occasions. on special occasions the refs can influence the game, leaving you in positions your actively planning to stay out of and how you respond in those special occasions make or break the game. Other times it’s other reasons. But I like to hope that the right team, or right player can extend past those types of setbacks and still find a way. anywho, probably a pipe dream. But it’s how I see it.
