Look....new coach...rookie QB.....in our situation even if luck is what they say he is...in the long run we gotta sure up our d line for more than 1 year...we gotta go DT...i say trade smitty if he wants to go for a good DT or DE prospect from another team on the cusp and is willing to forgo a possible beast at that position....you may now catx.gif

So by trading Smith for a DE or DT where does that leave the first pick in your eyes? Do you think we need to pick another DE or DT, or trade down to pick a corner?

Your posts always confuse the poo out of me.

i think we go for the top DT in the draft Auburn tackle Nick Fairley...hopefully there will be a rookie cap and pay scale so no hold out get him in the camp early and we can have a Suh on our hands....but also if we remain a 4-3 a trade of smith for a DT prospect will sure up the line ...therefore we will have Johnson,Fairley, insert DT,Hardy...with Brown on passing downs...id kept brayton for insurance or got get a another veteran body in there

I would love to have a strong DT to shore up our D line. Our D will be 2 steps better just from that one addition.

yes...or LB core and DB core made great strides this season...imagine if we had and constant pass rush and some good big bodies up front to keep beason, thomas, and anderson clean.....man just the thought got me amp

It's alot simpler getting a Vet DT and DE in FA then it is too get a QB.

so do you think we will go out and spend money on them...actively search out in pursue guys who's main motivation is "fug you pay me"......or obtain a good one through the draft with new league rules to set a pay scale so we dont over pay...and a trade for someone who already has their pay scale set....its alot harder to obtain good talent for cheap through FA...and from what we've seen the FO wants cheap

Truth is that defense wasn't the issue as much as scoring only 12 points a game. New England is the perfect example of a team that is great with a mediocre defense.

If we scored 30 points a game this year our defense would have been more than adequate. Improving the defense without improving the offense just means we would lose by single digits instead of double digits.

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
