Webb Drafted as....

Well I am sure most of you are watching the Eagles fall apart. I have to say, I am very impressed in that Webb kid. What does this have to do with Carolina? Webb was drafted as a wide out ...and now is play *gasp* QB. I am not one of the guys that thinks Edwards is the next Vick or something but at this point, give someone else a chance. We gave up a pick for this kid and he really hasn't seen the field this year at all. Experts don't think that Edwards is a NFL caliber QB, but these same experts though Clausen was more likely to succeed in NFL than other QBs in the draft due to him already playing in a pro system....just saying.

Webb is also 6'4 220. AE is 5'10 180. I know that many people would like to see what AE can do as a Qb in the NFL because of his college success but I don't think he will be able to be a succesful NFL Qb.

I don't think we should give up on AE. He is very small but with a year of developing as a WR he could put on an extra 20 pounds of muscle which he needs to do so he will be able to get off the line of scrimmage. Right now I feel that our coaching staff is taking their time to develop his body and help him learn as much as he can to be a successful WR. I have a gut feeling that next year he will get his playing time and we can finally see why we were so high on drafting this kid.

Good god, another start Armanti thread. Can these please die in the off season? Please? Webb has probably had a lot of practice lately with Favre and Tavaris going down. AE hasn't practiced a damn thing. Not only is he too small, but he'd look lost out there on Sunday.

Just what is it? Is it because he's a Carolina Panther and you can say no wrong about 95% of the team? Why do people think he can actually be a solid QB in the NFL? I really need to know.

where did you hear/read armanti had a low release? there's images of his release being over his head, probably above Clausen's, lol.

I just hope a new coach can actually utilize Armanti for something other than a bench warmer.

He slings the ball he does not get the ball over his head.

I have seen pictures of his release with no pads on and standing still but when he is running and has pads on he does not get the ball over his head.

    • 2022 was not a good year for QBs.
    • I think they are holding back to see what they have in the young guys, but I think it's a near certainty at some point they will bring someone else in. Right now (assuming we keep 5 CBs which is normal), the top 5 IMO are: 1) Jaycee Horn 2) Mike Jackson 3) Chau Smith-Wade 4) Shemar Bartholomew  5) Akayleb Evans   Obviously Jaycee is the alpha in that room and paid as such. Need him to stay healthy and continue to play at a Pro-Bowl level. Mike Jack did pretty well all things considered last year, and they gave him lower-level starter money. Fair deal for both sides.  Smith-Wade showed some promise as a slot CB. I think low-key he's a lock for the team. Different size and skill set than the other CBs. Shemar Bartholomew was the most sought after waiver claim last preseason. Was 5th CB most and inactive most of last year. Had a few defensive and ST snaps. Nothing of note good or bad but too small a sample size to make any judgment. Akayleb Evans was a 2022 4th Rounder for the Vikings. Has started 19 games (including Week 18 for the Panthers) in his career and played in 43. Was pretty good in 2023 before getting injured and falling down the depth chart last year. There's some other guys on the outside looking in, but until they show more in training camp I dont see anyway they make the 53. And only Jaycee, Mike Jack, and Smith-Wade are locks to make this roster IMO.
