Predict the "Rooney" interview

Mr. Scot

Rivera is my prediction.

I do think the rule is now kind of pointless.

There isn't an owner in the league who cares more about the color of someone's skin than they do about winning.

I think it now kind of gets in the way of teams going after their guy..

"Marty Hurney: Look, Mr. Harbaugh, your our only option, our number one guy, we want you to lead this team.

Jim Harbaugh: Really? That means a lot. I'll definitely put a lot of consideration into becoming a Carolina Panther.

**1 Week Later***

ESPN: Breaking news out of Charlotte. San Diego Defensive Coordinator Ron Rivera has been seen entering Bank of America Stadium. An inside source confirms he does have an interview scheduled for today

Jim Harbaugh: Why those lying sacks of..."

Kind of a poor example, but I stand by post!

I just the rule is out of date for the league.

I'm gonna play it safe, stay in-house and say Brian Baker.

For the record, this year's Rooney Rule interview will be the first ever for the Panthers.

I wouldn't do it. I would hire who I want, pay the fine and move on. The rule is actually a violation of Labor law if a team wanted to press it. Just like you can't discriminate and NOT hire someone or interview them based on race, a team can't be forced to interview a minority.

Screw the NFL front office.

This is a business. To assume there arent owners more caught up in the bottom line and presenting a marketable image over winning is very naive. Even in the NBA you have owners like this. As much money as the NFL sees, Im sure there's quite a few. Owners are human beings just anyone else. The fact they even had to create a "Rooney" rule speaks volumes. The owners themselves know more than anybody how biased they are.

    • Tennessee just fired their coach.  I guess thats good to do before he completely destroys ward.  I dont know though
    • Y'all are funny. and dumb. The argument I am seeing now if he can only be considered good if he WRs are trash or the play call has to make it hard for him? WTF haha
    • No it's not, there isn't a single coach who's only job is to win games, because no coach is going to win games unless they're also improving the quality of play out of their players. For coaches with contending teams, winning is their #1 job, but I think it's a more than reasonable take to say that coaches of not yet contending teams winning comes second to making your players better. We have 11 games left, if you gave me the option of winning all 11 of the games in terribly ugly fashion to where we don't improve the quality of our players vs we lose all 11 games, but do so in spectacular fashion where our players show significant improvement, I'm taking option B every time. Because option B is the path to future and long term success, while option A is a path to short term happiness at the expense of long term franchise stability.   And yes, that is clearly an extreme example that could never actually play out in either way, but you still know what I mean.  And no, it has nothing to do with draft position, it's about how good will these players be a year, 2 years, 3 years, etc, down the line, when you hope to be a true contending team, because nobody actually thinks we're that type of team this year unless you're literally crazy
