The whole state of GA has some kind of dirty poo in the air. I remember when we were driving back from Disney World in the early 90's at night, we had to stop like every 30 mins going through GA to wash some sort of nasty residue off the windshield.

probably pollen, its so nasty in the spring

Paper mills. At least that's what the awful smell is.

And for what it's worth, I like Atlanta. Had fun there a few years ago for the Final Four. And the other times I've been there, I've never had a problem finding fun things to do.

I don't know why I'm even going to bother but here goes:

If you just drive through Atlanta or go to a game at the Dome your impression of Atlanta is going to suck. Downtown is a poohole and it is dirty. But what you have to realize is that there are really three "downtowns" or core business districts in Atlanta: Downtown, Midtown, and Buckhead. Modtown and Buckhead are very clean and generally decent places to be depending on what type of crowd/scene you're attracted to. There are numerous tiny little neighborhoods in Atlanta that individually offer more culture, better restuarants, and unique bars than you'll find in all of Uptown Charlotte or Downtown Raleigh/Glenwood/wherever.

I moved to Atlanta from NC about five years ago and while I love NC and would defnitely move back, Atlanta has really grown on me and I have no desire to leave. The traffic sucks but you're a moron if you live in the suburbs and work in the city (or vice versa). Long story short, quit hating on Atlanta if your experience is limited to attending Falcon games or driving down 85/75.

Yeah, I thought BuckHead was pretty cool, it was just inundated with people so it was hard to get an accurate view of it. Lots of cool little bars over there though!

i go to stone mountain at least once a year, that's always a good time

i've never had bad experiences with ATL downtown either... yeah, it's dirty, but charlotte's absolutely catching up. the homeless are worse down there tho, but i'm hardly ever bothered by them (although I attract them like flies)

surround yourself with the right crowd, and any place can be amazing. of course, the flip side of that statement is also true...

i'm headed down next weekend for a Railroad Earth show. can't wait

I hate Atlanta. My brother and sister live there so I have to visit every once in a while. The traffic does actually move so its not as bad as LA. The worst part is that it feels like you are in a race at Daytona going down I-85.

I suggest most of you read what mrbeauxjangles posted.

Don't like it? Get the fug out of the way and get into the right lane. I love that it goes so fast.

Try St. Louis on I-70, I got pulled for doing the speed limit... the deputy asked "are you trying to kill somebody"? LOL!!! True story!

Modtown? Is that where all the Moderator's live? :)

Fwiw, I like Atlanta. Wouldn't want to live there now, but if I was younger, I wouldn't mind it.
