Country dumb....

I like what he had to say and how up front he was but he needs to realize who the f he's talking to. These are the people that buy your nasty fat biscuits and your worthless tickets to see the worst team in the nation, not your dumb little spoiled sons

That's great and all, but he was in a press conference. It's a public forum. You (and Jerry historically has) carry yourself in a different manner.

If you find yourself defending any public act of communication as "you just have to know him" it is usually a failure, as the majority of the audience doesn't.

Still, that's all I keep seeing:

Jerry rambles on endlessly and somewhat embarassingly?

Oh, that's just how he is. He's just being country.

Jerry treats the body of reporters with seeming disdain (Didn't know their names. Didn't always answer their questions. Sometimes forgot their names.)

Oh, that Jerry! Better bring your A game!

Jerry treats a female reporter in a patronizing, "what do you want to do when you grow up, little girl?" way.

Oh Jerry and her go waaaaay back. All the way to November 2010.

There's a difference between talking with friends, talking in a room full of trusted people who work with you and know your habits, and talking to a wide group of strangers who you'd like to continue to spend 1000's of dollars with you that know little more than your name. Richardson forgot that yesterday.

This... the press conference may have been funny and entertaining but it was a PR disaster.

There were a few shots of Richardson speaking that showed Danny Morrison and he looked like he wanted to find somewhere to hide.

Yeah.

It's great that he owns the media and is methodical in what he does.

But, he has people to tell him what to say. he didn't write that letter for example.

He should have consulted those people yesterday

If you want fans to be happy let Danny Morrison talk to the people. Give him your thoughts and let him bring the news of whatever you want. That guy knows the fans and the public and could have made us look like the awesome franchise that we are. Keep the grumpy old man out of the spotlight. Its all perception anyway. Even if the old man is a business genius, dont let him come out and talk to people with this country bumpkin spin. Show the NFL we mean business but let it come from a face that people can get behind, not wanna throw a rock at so they shut up. If he actually give Morrison the freedom he needs this year He can turn the fan base around for sure. He is definatly the bright spot of the organization.

Obvoiusly, there is no way JR is gonna please everybody, no matter what he does.

He doesn't talk enough. He talks too much. He talks too slow. Gantt is a pu$$y. He shouldn't have treated Gantt like that.

I, for one, am glad he personally held a press conference. The best part was that he was a lot more candid that I expected. Maybe I didn't like everything he said, but at least I got to hear WHAT he said directly from him, instead of wondering if what some beat reporter just wrote was accurate or not.

When you hear from Hurney, and most likely from Danny Morrison, you're gonna get the "company line" bs. Hell, Hurney was even spilling that during THIS press conference. It was obvious he was uncomfortable giving any actual details... even vague ones.

Agree, Danny Morrison should be the one doing these "state of the franchise" type pressers from now on. I spoke with the man on the phone for about 20 mins after I sent an email and he was firm in his position and got his point across while being very diplomatic and friendly.

you know what? if he had done that, you'd be bitching that richardson didn't personally come out and talk. jjr had an agenda at the news conference, and he executed it exactly the way he wanted. like it or not.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
